Every other team seems to be doing this. When will the Toon be coming around our neck of the woods to play (and hopefully beat up on) some MLS teams! Jared and I have already committed to traveling to each match!
went to the DC/NUFC friendly in 2000. definitely one of those "now i can die happy" moments. the flippin' roof nearly came off when Shearer subbed in.
I wouldn't be suprised that if we had a good season this year that we might do it next season. Ashley seems comitted to expanding Newcastle Utd the brand as well as the team and the US is probably the place with most growth potention especially where he is concerned in the sporting goods market
I guarantee that if, even at a LOSS (in the jersey deal) they picked up Newcastle Brown Ale as their jersey sponsor again they would make a KILLING in the US market selling jerseys. I know I'd buy one. As it is, I've got a Solano (always my favorite magpie) jersey waiting for me at my parents' house, who just arrived back in the states from staying in Newcastle for the last month. Haway!
Well it probably won't happen since earlier this month the club signed a deal with Carling ending it's relationship with Scottish and Newcastle. However the deal didn't have anything to do with shirt sponsorship so you never know
i thought i heard something about a tour of north america during the season, but that was when ffs and glen roeder were still running us into the ground
We did get Fat Freddy to send us (NYC Toon Army) a framed and signed Shearer Jersey last year as a gift to Nevada Smiths, perhaps I will discuss this letter of "suggestion" to the gentleman with the hook up.
Because those make about as much sense and spurn as much change as...well say the hippies at Washington Square Park playing their bongos all day in protest.
I'm confused - you want us to play bongos in Washington Square Park to bring Newcastle to the States next year?
What it will do is get Mr Ashley's attention about how many people would like to see a NUFC US tour. The whole point of those is so that people all over can sign easily. And getting the word out to people would be easy. I think a few hundred to a thousand signatures on there may get Mike seeing $$$
I think he prefers team building retreats. The last thing we need is Joey Barton running a muck in the States.
No plastic pitches for the boys! Plus somebody might throw a streamer at Owen and knock him out for 2 months.
