Looks like they put up the jumbo tron and are starting to put the roof up. Victoria St Pictures Feb 22 2003
i have to say that's a damn nice stadium 2 non-related items: i definetely thought the site was 'lariatsquad' when the link first opened. you guys have sweet tshirts.
I saw the Harrison officials had visited the Victoria Street facility, i'm betting at the very least Mr. Hunt has made the proper Frisco officials very aware of that project.
That is looking great! Since they are levelling the surface, I guess it's safe to assume that the underfield drainage system has been installed and they will be ready to lay the pitch relatively soon.
Just wait 'til the roof is up on both sides and the grass is in. Looks better every week. The scalpers will be at work for tickets opening day. I would guess this may be a first for an opener. Tickets being scalped for MLS.
There is another set of pictures I will be posting sometime between tonight and tommorow that are really kewl. Stay tuned.
scalping went on for fire games last year... not tons of it, but there was... in addition, people tried to sell tickets for profit on ebay
i'll feel much better once i see them doing more with the turf and only in that i hope for some good turf this year.... i know that other brand new facilities have had horrible experiences with their sod for the first couple of years
Beer? I am sure this is all ready been posted, but quick question. Since the the stadium is on a college campus, are there beer sales at the game. Also, what about tailgates in the parking lot. Got my season tickets, and just curious. thanks
Re: Beer? no idea about the parking lots (either way, that tiny bar is going to need to expand)... but the games will have alkyhol
I hope they remember to leave one of those green boxes behind the visiting bench, for when DaMarcus comes to town.
the only thing destracting from the beauty is the one end with no seats. I know you all hate to hear any criticism, but as beautiful as it is, it does look kinda funny with a big section missing. What is the capacity again? What would the capacity be with the seats in the one end? When do they plan on adding those seats?
don't listen to him... it gives some character... maybe they will do something really unique in that end zone when the time comes... build it like the classy old European stadiums, one stand at a time... each with a different name and a different feel... of course, if you have St Phil's money behind you, why not build it all at once;-) rand
From what I've heard, is that there will be 24,000 permanent seats, and they can bring in 3,000 modular seats from the Track & Field stadium. Those will be placed at the north end (Lalas Hill). I'm not exactly positive on this though. Lalas Hill is there for looks for now, but if expansion to the stadium happens, that's where it will occur.
that's the first time i've heard it called Lalas hill, where does that come from, is it official or a 'Victoria St.' kinda thing? Also, any ideas from the new pictures how much higher up the feild will be? meaning how much of that wall around teh stadium right now is going to be underground? I can't really tell how much fill has been put in since the last pics if any.
How big is this stadium supposed to be? I seem to remember something in the mid to high 20k range. It certainly looks smaller. Anyone know? No matter what, its good for US soccer (even if it all the way across the country from me) and MLS.
I think its refered to as Lalas hill because there was an Open cup game a while back (semi final i think) in which Lalas scored the golden goal and went running up a hill behind the goal at Cal State Fullerton (Where the match was played.) It is a pretty steep hill and the match was in the 110th minute or something like that and all his teamates were trying to struggle up the hill to catch him. So, now we have a hill in our stadium and it's been nicknamed in honor of that play... Mike
