So we’re using the full weight of the government to order body bags but not medical supplies. https://t.co/cua8rWUddD— Sam Stein (@samstein) April 1, 2020 Just to be clear, the state of Massachusetts is relying on the New England Patriots to deliver desperately needed medical supplies because the federal government is a dumpster fire. https://t.co/a3fXzWZ1rJ— Binyamin Appelbaum (@BCAppelbaum) April 2, 2020
So DeSantis only closed Florida under pressure? Yes you do. I sued you. And an hour before our first call with the judge you closed the state. https://t.co/IY7TFgrwp6— Daniel Uhlfelder (@DWUhlfelderLaw) April 2, 2020 Let me tell you, Republican Governors and Presidents look to be extremely inept at best, and like murderous raptureous jihadists at worst.
Well, this is concerning.Kushner says Trump finally acted on addressing supplies shortages after hearing about them “just this morning” from “friends of his in New York.”Not the governor. Not the hospitals. Friends. This is how Trump runs your country. pic.twitter.com/vlwDR86WWs— DNC War Room (@DNCWarRoom) April 2, 2020

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2020/04/04/coronavirus-government-dysfunction/ Despite these and other extreme steps, the United States will likely go down as the country that was supposedly best prepared to fight a pandemic but ended up catastrophically overmatched by the novel coronavirus, sustaining heavier casualties than any other nation. It did not have to happen this way. Though not perfectly prepared, the United States had more expertise, resources, plans and epidemiological experience than dozens of countries that ultimately fared far better in fending off the virus. The failure has echoes of the period leading up to 9/11: Warnings were sounded, including at the highest levels of government, but the president was deaf to them until the enemy had already struck. The Trump administration received its first formal notification of the outbreak of the coronavirus in China on Jan. 3. Within days, U.S. spy agencies were signaling the seriousness of the threat to Trump by including a warning about the coronavirus — the first of many — in the President’s Daily Brief. And yet, it took 70 days from that initial notification for Trump to treat the coronavirus not as a distant threat or harmless flu strain well under control, but as a lethal force that had outflanked America’s defenses and was poised to kill tens of thousands of citizens. That more-than-two-month stretch now stands as critical time that was squandered.
Trump sometimes says they inherited an obsolete or broken system. That’s vague and subjective. But saying they inherited obsolete tests is complete nonsense. This is a new virus. The broken initial tests were developed this year. https://t.co/1iHedhsqJw— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) April 4, 2020
A damning new CNN scoop reports that administration officials sounded the alarm about pandemics last year. The administration's response? The China cover-up held us back! But a look at the timeline shows that this excuse is a sick joke. New piece:https://t.co/2fAgmTmrGq— Greg Sargent (@GregTSargent) April 3, 2020
Something about evil socialized medicine: More than 156M Americans depended on their employers for health insurance before the coronavirus pandemic. With almost 10M people filing new unemployment claims over the past two weeks, an estimated 3.5M workers likely lost their health insurance. https://t.co/EVFo57ikmj— NBC Politics (@NBCPolitics) April 3, 2020
On the same day Larry Kudlow said coronavirus was “contained” on Feb. 25th, Trump’s campaign spox made an even more bold claim.“We will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here..and isn't it refreshing when contrasting it with the awful presidency of President Obama." pic.twitter.com/O0DDH3Rvkw— Andy Kaczynski (@KFILE) April 4, 2020
