How's that? Playing in a baseball stadium in Dublin is not an acceptable solution for the Quakes.

    PS--More ******* IKEA. Hooray.

Seeing as how that's five minutes from my house, I think it's a terrible idea! now, substitute a Quakes stadium for a baseball stadium (shudder) and all of sudden it becomes a brilliant idea! Brilliant I say!

I think in retrospect I see where Revolt was going with this...if, potentially, the A's don't move there, and if, potentially, they still want to build a stadium, perhaps an SSS instead?

I took it more as if the A's get a stadium deal somewhere, the South Bay pols stop tilting at the baseball windmill and look seriously at the Quakes situation.

But this proposal looks pretty feeble, considering it doesn't even have the backing of the A's.

I read it in this morning's CoCoTimes and that's about the way I took it. The possibilities, although slim, might be greatly improved if someone was lobbying for this location on behalf of the Quakes. The A's don't seem to want it at all, but the over-eager real-estate developer does. As I remember, didn't he say that he would want to buy the A's? Maybe he can be sold something else. ;)

Hey, I was being my usual obtuse self. I wasn't thinking so much of a stadium possibility for the Quakes in Dublick if the A's & IKEA things fall through (though that ain't a bad idea).

I was thinking more about the South Bay & Fremont areas - and by extension Oakland. If the A's get a stadium deal that settles the issue once and for all. All the cities thinking about building a baseball stadium could turn their attention to a soccer stadium.

Rumbler and I have lobbying Steve Schott to buy the Earthquakes for a while now. He is a frequent visitor to our deli and we brainwash him with Earthquakes posters, schedules, etc.. Rumbler even tried to charge him 10 million for his salad. We figure he may know someone who could help us build a stadium or buy the Earthquakes and not change the name and history of our club.

Dublin is unlikely for the Athletics. The demographic on baseball is to place the stadium in a downtown area, as shown in recent years. I could go on, but it's a soccer board...

It's still far off for the Quakes, but it's a thought if they could create a soccer specific facility replete with practice fields (ex: Dallas and Los Angeles).

I'm still betting that eye-kea still gets something built there. Cheers!
