Barnicle is a regular on Radio TWIT. Most of his comments are like what gets picked up in front of my house once a week ... trash.

 

I once saw Barnicle at Daisy Buchanan's. He was sitting at a table like it was his friggin thrown of Newbury Street. I politely walked up to him and said "Hey Mike, you're a ********ing ********. Kindly ******** off, and ruin a different city." He replied, "Wow, you're a tough guy." To which I replied, "Yes, and you're a worthless ********. Good day."

I was asked to leave the bar. Which I gladly did, because that place sucks anyways.

Moral of the story: I'm a loser, and Barnicle sucks at life.

Barnicle's just pursuing the only career that's left to him, complaining about how the world is changing around him. Unfortunately for him he never fought against fascism or lived through the worst of the Great Depression, so he's reduced to bitching about how kids today don't appreciate the Strawberry Alarm Clock.

IIRC, he played baseball at BU. I'm sure somewhere inside his brain he's aware that BU long ago canned its baseball program. It resurrected the sport while I was there in the '80s and it proceded to field the worst team in NCAA Div. III. Nobody gave a damn and BU no longer has a baseball team ... but it's got a soccer team. The world is changing, which isn't a surprise. It's been doing that for four billion years.

Now, I'm a big baseball fan too, but don't tell me there's beauty in the nuance of a 2-0 baseball game, but a 2-0 soccer game is unwatchable. That's obvious hypocrisy. The problem is ESPN is showing the Champions League final and people are making a big deal out it and Barnicle can't figure out what's going on. Vaguely he's becoming aware he's going to die in a world he never made ... and he's prepared to hate it to the bitter end.

 

Seriously, if any one can get a hold of this douche we should seriously challenge him to a soccer match.

 

Wow, How did I ever respect this guy in the past? He makes his living off his opinions but in this case he used the exact shop-worn stereotypical checklist of the Soccer bigots. Jeeze, if you are going to slam something, at least be creative and original about it.

Then, the biggest gaffe, not realizing or understanding that the World Cup is played between National teams. What a retard.

Well, I hadn't seen him lately until now but these latest photos show him aging. His neck is may more chickenlike. Soon he does the dirtnap and Soccer gloriously soldiers on.

Oh well, Again I take heart in the knowledge that nothing these haters say will stop the games advance.

Just to take the bad taste out of your mouth, here's Bob Ryan's column about watch the final at the Banshee.....

Ryan may not be a soccer fan, but he is at least willing (for the top levels of the sport) to give it the respect it deserves.

 

There was something bad that happened in his family a little while back and since then, Ryan has been a much more positive, accepting sports fan.

 

First he steals jokes from Carlin, now he rips off commentary from Gerry Callahan.

Ryan's been ok on soccer for a number of years now. I remember listening to him in a spot on EEI during the 02 WC. He was pumping the USNT to the dismay of the usual snickering moron hosts.

Freaking Barnicle didn't even know which competition he was talking about.
If you have no knowledge of a subject, leave it alone.

You know Blacksmiths laughed when it was said that cars would replace horses...and Vinyl Record Manufacturers did the same...etc..etc. Those entrenched in their own self worth usually never see the ball coming. Wouldn't it be the end all..if Barnacle just happens to be at some game sometime, and while spewing his disgusting vomit to anyone with the stomach to listen, a shot from new Revs signing Michael Owen comes screaming off the pitch and, lights out Barnacle, and then ricochets off Chris Berman, Jim Rome, Mike Lupica and still has enough sting to take out Seanassy(I could give 2 shits if I spelled it wrong,,which I know I did..LOL)

...oh well..we can dream of a dp like Owen..!! =)
