Pointless but I thought entetaining... Kerry's wife helps design campaign scarfWASHINGTON -- Teresa Heinz Kerry is a millionaire philanthropist and a popular public speaker for her husband's presidential campaign. Now she can add scarf designer to her resume. Heinz Kerry has been draping a new red, white and blue silk scarf around her neck that she helped design for her husband's campaign. The scarf is covered with little flags and her husband's initials and says "John Kerry for President 2004" in script at the bottom. Wonder if she used cafe press?
You do tend to see this sort of thing in other countries. Football-style scarves, clearly distinct "team" colors representing different parties, supporters who paint their face/hair at rallies, etc. I suppose with the "Red" (yuppies, urban, coastal, hip, artsy types) and "Blue" (midwestern, traditional, blue-collar, mainstream, meat/potatoes)Americas, you could make a case for the Dems to be in blue and the GOP in red, but we're not Liverpool-Everton just yet. Many years ago I was on the tube in London and saw a bunch of young people with green/yellow scarves, painted faces, etc. They didn't look like the stereotypical fottie supporters (too young, proportionately more females, not "hard" enough, etc.) but I thought what the hell, I asked them which club they supported. It turns out they were a Methodist church youth group going off to some kind of function. Tom
