    From today's Murky News:

Coach's arrest derails tourney by Dennis Knight

Some of you are familiar with the coach in question from another Quakes-related board.

All I can say is I've been in a similar situation, and those minutes between when a player is injured and when medics show up can seem like an eternity. Hope the kid's okay.

The arrested coach is the same QuakeMagic.com contributor who writes the post-match reports and several MLS and AEG-critical op-eds?

Echo the hopes that the kid is alright, and you're right... those first minutes between the call and help's arrival do seem like an eternity.

I don't think it's the four minute response time that's the issue. REading between the lines, the firefighters arrived and waited in the parking lot for police backup to get there.

I've had a 911 call similar to this. The paramedics and fire engine waited ten minutes down the street, waiting for police to arrive and "clear" the property of trouble.

That is very frustrating, to have help arrive, but not respond.

The moral of the story is that in emergency situations, it's imperative to remain calm. In this case, that's truly what's best for the injured. Not only did the coach's actions keep help from coming earlier, but imagine how freaked out everybody must have been, especially the injured player, unconscious or not.

in full agreement, but alot easier to write than act/do when standing over an injured kid....especially a head injury...
