Congrats to Miami FC...not sure that there were 5,200+ in the stands, but that match was very entertaining.

Last night, Hartford City FC hosted a conference semi-final match at Dillon Stadium in Hartford. Crowd estimates are in the 4-500 range. All things considered, that is a surprisingly good turnout.
HCFC did not know they were hosting until after their game last Saturday night. Additionally, the Yard Goats were playing in front of 4,800 people and the weather was threatening.
The atmosphere at Dillon was passionate and engaging. It did not take long for new City fans to support their team. Which begs the question: Why can't City play all their home games at Dillon Stadium? Yes, we all know the BS that went down with the original ownership group. But this is a different group that plays in a non-professional league. These players are either really good college players or recent graduates who want to continue to play at a high level. This team is not a threat in any way to Hartford Athletic. I would argue that a positive relationship between the two clubs would benefit both and the city of Hartford would gain from more events at Dillon.
The problem is that Athletic and City are in leagues run by different competing organizations. Athletic plays in the USL Championship and City plays in the National Premier Soccer League. The USL owns a competing non-professional league (USL League Two) with the NPSL and is protective of their properties. This is why Athletic and other USL teams attempt to secure exclusivity clauses a the venues in which they play at.
The good news is that City won their match last night and is hosting the Championship final against Stockade FC this Saturday night. The boys from Kingston travel very well and will most likely bring a busload or two to Hartford. A conference championship played at Dillon Stadium is just what this area needs regardless of league. It would be great to see people come out to the game to support the local club. And if you are an angry Athletic fan who feels that City is playing on your turf, you can always join the Stockade fans.

Duluth FC will play in the playoffs this Tuesday, though the location and opponent will not be set until Cleveland SC faces Erie Commodores FC as seeding involves all three conferences in the Midwest Region.
