With the almost certainty of Nowak not playing for the Revs this year wouldn't it be wise to resign Serna? JMM is more than capable of playing a Nowak like role for the Revs. A midfield of Ralston, JMM, Hernandez, Kamler(noonan) is not bad at all. Add Serna with Twellman and you have a front 6 that is more dangerous than last year. If Nicol get left with no Nowak and no Serna, then he better get on the Phone to England and find a player to play midfield.

    hehe

That would be the best case scenario, but we could pick up AW again.... :)

Don't hold your breath. The Revs have known this Nowak scenario was a possibility for a while now, and they still went ahead and cut Serna loose.

Serna must have been more Trouble than known,,,,,He and Twellman most certainly could be the most dangerous combo in the league. Just does not make sense to waste a talent like that. Nicol must be looking for someone,,,you don't lose talent like Nowak and Serna and not look to replace them with equal or better players

No No No No No Serna (Period)

Lets remember we now have a big hunk of Cap to work with. I'm betting there are candidates on SN's wish list. With spring training started and the trip to Brazil coming up we shouldn't have long to wait to hear who will fill the void created by Nowak not coming.

Being seriously financially challenged as far as figuring out budgets, etc. could someone please provide a summary of just where we are in cap terms in the post-Nowak/Serna era? It might be very helpful in thinking about replacements.

Also, I'm not sure that Joe Max is quite the midfielder we need although he certainly could have helped the US yesterday and would do fine in the short run for the Revs. I think he is more useful as a partner for Twellman with a good midfielder offering balls to feet for the both of them and Ralston raining in benders from the right. From the left, who knows at this point.

we have many options for the left if one doesnt cut it. i figure we start kamler. if he doesnt cut it, then we see how noonan does. if he dont cut it, then we have griffiths.

IMHO our roster is no where near finished.

We may or may not see Llamosa back and with Serna being waived and Nowak going AWOL we have sufficient Cap to upgrade at a number of positions. I'm betting the Revs will be looking to add Joey DiGimarino. If he comes aboard we will need to cut someone and I'll bet it's Griffith.

This is pretty much what I was hoping not to see, the Revs starting preseason training and being about 4 weeks away from their first Champion's Cup game and scrambling around trying to figure out their roster and lineup...

You guys don't really need Nowak now that you've got JMM, anyway. It's not like your offense was hurting last year and needed a total overhaul.

This frees up cap space to keep Ilamosa, and hopefully enough to sign someone to play on the left.

This improves you even more than keeping Nowak.

Forgive me for stupidity, but I haven't heard of this Nowak situation. Why will he not be playing for the Revs? What happened? Thanks.

i like that better, Vaca is a young and upcoming star, and i would also not mind picking up Ronnie O'brein to solve our left mid problems, maybe trade him for Griffiths or someone.
