I'd rather see Bobby intense and focused as opposed to the second half of last season, when he was obviously frustrated at still being here with Hudson running the show.

My personal favorite from the article:

"Although he's Salvadoran, forward Ronald Cerritos has been invited to the White House today as part of a Cinco de Mayo celebration."

    Yup, that's our Prez...

    Yeah?

Well at least someone in DC knows it doesnt hurt to treat the Salvadorian community well...

Oh yeah, Bush likes a drink and speaks Spanish... in regard to the later he is ahead of the vast majority of the "Barra." :D

Seeing as he's on the wagon, there's just no excuse whatsover for the slackjawed garbling that is George Bush's "Spanish."

The bit about Cerritos and Cinco de Mayo had me rolling on the floor.

I think Nowak fully understands Bobby's reaction and I expect him not to hold any grudges.

While I tend to be pretty hard on Convey, I can't see how this is in the least bit newsworthy. A player wanting to play isn't news.

I think if someone called Nellie an Australian, he'd snap them in two. I think he could take the secret service easy.

Ah, so you're now a Spanish teacher and a Metro supporter.

    Great choices all around :D

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
Is May 5 when El Salvador had that war with Honduras after a soccer game?

I agree. I'd be concerned only if Convey didn't want to start and play 90 minutes. But this? No. One might even argue that every player should have that reaction.

So we still have the 17-year-old training with us? Any news on whether or not we are going to sign him?

looks like Mr. Goff was edited... it now says "Salvadoran forward Ronald Cerritos has been invited to the White House today as part of a Cinco de Mayo celebration."

i guess that was a little more than just the facts... no politics on the sports page.

So let's start another thread on how Kornheiser bashes United and MLS instead! :)

Seriously, though, I've heard from a few people who cover the team that Convey's relationship w/ Nowak has appeared strained at times. Saturday wasn't the first time they've had a disagreement, so I'm glad Goff decided to pursue it and put any potential rumors to rest. To me, that's good journalism.

Really? You think every player should have a temper tantrum and argue with the coach in front of a whole stadium?

Nowak is coach. Convey is player. Convey should sit down and be quiet.

Well, I for one, am very happy to see Convey express some disappointment at losing playing time for DC United. Sure beats his late season 'tude in 2003!

I hope they make a Decision on Nana Kwame Kuffour, I wonder if he's related to the Other Ghanian Kuffours, like the one at Bayern Munich(Samuel) and the other one (Emmanuel) that plays somewhere.

Did Nowak used to yell at Bradley if he ever took the Fire's #10 off the field?
I'm sure some in Chicago would be better able to answer that, but I have to believe that Nowak was a bit proud of Bobby for acting up. Now, as a coach though he's in charge and Goff's article explains the situation in farther detail to the fan. Job well done all around.

Seeing as how the facts in sports don't matter that much, and seeing as how sports are entertainment, I just don't follow. It was much better the way Goff wrote it the first time. I hardly think not knowing the difference between El Salvador and Mexico is going to become a major campaign issue.

It does when your campaign strategy involves trying to broaden your appeal to Hispanics.

He needed the Spanish to order around his "help." Also, while Bush may like a drink, he's just another quitter - claims to be sober for years now despite a certain falling down while watching a game and eating a pretzel.... Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

Remember, as a famous local bartender once said: "Without alcohol, we'd all just be anonymous..."
