At forward, I would love to see F Torres come to the Nou Camp. In fact, I think I would prefer him to Ronaldinho. He is Spanish, young and a brilliant goal scorer. He and Saviola would form one of the most lethal pairings in La Liga and certainly the one with the brightest future. I think we should let Kluivert go. 6 Million euros is a lot. We cut Rivaldo last year for a similar reason.

In regards to midfielders, I am not sure where Barca could/should go. I think it depends on which players we retain. I think Riquelme, Gerard, L. Enrique, Xavi and Motta will all return. I think Mendieta will leave along with Cocu. Motta seems to be growing into a destroyer role, but he is young and with the loss of cocu and Mendieta I would like to see a seasoned player come in who plays there.

I would love to see two quality defenders move to the Nou Camp...Lucio and either Mexes or Chivu. If we can hang onto Sorin, I think we have a very solid backline.

Hopefully F Navarro will be fit next season somehow, I think we wont keep Braveheart (Juanpi) so a lefty like Marquez or Chivu might be good.

I guess the signing of Rustu is a good start, now our main goal must be sign TWO quality defenders (the aforementioned Chivu, Mexes, Marquez, Metzelder, Worns, Gallas, Terry) and a pure race goalscorer (but somebody reasonable Cisse, Pauleta, Hasselbaink).

BTW to be completely honest, this is bullshit!

we wont have 'em, at least not those 3 players.

I agree about that statement being nonsense. I think that the new Laporta regime (are they still the Blue Elephant?) is in danger of loosing a lot of credibility if they are unable to bring in a big signing of world class quality to replace beckham. I fear that this offseason could be like the one when we brought in Alfonso, Rochembeck, Guardiola, Overmars, etc.

By the way, I just heard on the BBc that we are meeting with ROnaldinho's advisors this evening to try and work out a deal.

    I say sign Torres.

So is it the consensus of this board that PSG's, "Ronny's staying with us" statements are merely negotiating salvos?

I know that no one in their right mind would call Jesus Gil Y Gil savvy (in fact, most of the words that I would use to describe him are not repeatable in polite society), but while I too would love to see him in Barca colors, I really can't see Torres being sold by AM.

Tony, take a look at this:

I think you're touching on a larger issue, which is the transfer market as a whole. Now that Becks has set the bar for this off-season, it will be interesting to see which teams get busy. Personally I think RMMC (Real Madrid Marketing Club) got a pretty cheap deal. I don't know that I'd be all that thrilled about that Beckham price if I was shopping Ronaldinho. On the other hand, the fees for the 'galacticos' don't always translate for a less exotic name like Chivu or Torres or (insert name here).

I still think Ronaldinho is going somewhere, and maybe he will end up in BCN because Joan will be the most desperate to save face. Mexes would be one of my first choices, but his contract situation is so bungled that he probably isn't going anywhere.

Mexes played solid today vs Colombia, I like we could sign him.
