Song Chong-Gug was married today to his sweetheart, whose name is Kim Jeong-Ah or something like that, if I'm not mistaken.

Congratulations, and may they be happy together.

In my opinion, that silver tux of his looks pretty cool. Beats Young-Pyo's 'gold' look any day.

The article says she's 20, so 1983 would be my guess. Still, that IS pretty young.

Well, if they think they're ready, then I guess I wish them nothing but happiness.

There's Lee Young-Pyo in the top right corner of one of the pics. No gold though.

    Congrats to them.

Are Korean footballers drawn to shik-soonies? Here's hoping Young Pyo and Jong Guk tasted some prissy princesses before settling down with them O.G. style Korean homemaker women.

You know, the one's who perm their hair and cut it short as soon as they squeeze out a few puppies and hit the 4 - 0.

How tall is Seol and his wife (or how short are Song and Lee), they just tower over the others.
Seems strange that for a team with not too many tall players, Seol is usually played in the wide position.

Lee Young-Pyo and his wife are wearing matching outfits. How adorable! As for Seol, he's wearing capris. That's a no-no for guys.

All of you must be short. Seol's height is normal. Young Pyo and Jong Guk are just short that's all.

Seol is 184cm. Between 180 and 185, is normal height.

    I'm just over 186cm(that's a little over 6'1").

Do you mo fo's have Vietnamese or Japanese genes or sumfin'? What's the deal?

There's lots of middle-aged women here in Korea who get married and basically give up trying to look attractive.

They dress in a sloppy manner, wear "frumpy" and baggy clothing, don't wear any make-up... basically, they feel that since they are already married, there's no point trying to look appealing anymore.

Lots of these women, as they get on in age, wear these massive visors to keep the sunlight out of their face. But they wear them all day long, even when they're indoors (i.e. in the shops or the subway), and they look quite goofy.

Ahn's wife reminded me of one of these such women, so I could almost picture her wearing such a visor.

184 cm is average height? The average AMERICAN is 5'9 which is ~176 cm. the average Korean is 172 cm and the Japanese (you'll be surprised to learn) are almost the same height.

    p.s. get over yourself.

Riiiiiight. 5'9" isn't completely short, but it is still short, bro.

Average height for Korean is 172cm? Amazing. How did you come to this conclusion?

And no, Japanese don't have similar height with Koreans. We're generally considered the tallest and biggest in height and physique in Asia. Why do you think the racist term for Japanese in Korean, Jjok Bal Yee, literally means "short legs".

Jjok Bal Yee means short legs? I don't think so.
It probably has to do with their traditional shoes, not their height or length of legs, although I do know that Japanese traditionally don't care for the height or length of legs. What they do care for is the height when you sit down (length of upper body).

Average height for Korean is about 172cm ~ 173cm but it's mainly due to the generation who suffered through poverty and the war (1940 ~ 1960 born generations).
I think the average height for high school boys were 178cm. These days a lot of high school boys consider them short if they are not taller than 180cm. (At least that's what they say on web sites I go often)

    Outside of Suwon
"According to a 1995 Sports Indicators of Korea published by Korea Sport Science Institute, the average height of a modern Korean, ages 25-29, is 172.5 centimeters for men and 158.8 centimeters for women. In terms of height, this means that Korean males belong to the upper middle scale and Korean females to the medium scale, compared to other Asian people."

    http://www.korea.net/learnaboutkorea/geography/peo_rel.html

I could be wrong but I think the Korean War was a little before these 25-29 year olds lives (note they would now be 33-37 years old, therefore born in 1970-74).

I am about bang on 184 cm and I am taller than 95% of Korean guys I come across and get told by Koreans every other day that I am tall.

    peace out

your calculation is wrong. It would be 1966 - 1970. (I know how you got the wrong calculation, taking 1995 - 25 = 1970 and adding 4 where you actually should have subtracted 4)
People born in 1960's lived through poverty. Only people born in the late 70's had glimpse of abundant food in their youth. I remember eating Ramen noodles for every lunch for a month once when I was little. And we weren't the poorest family in our neighborhood.
You are certainly a tall person, but would not be looked at as freak. I can think of more than 5 friends top of my head who are just as tall as you are or taller than you.

nope. The term literally means "split footies"

It's because of the traditional wooden shoes the Japanese wore and what that does is that it groups your toes into two.

"Jjok" means "side" in Korean like when you say "ee jjok" or "juh jjok" meaning "this side" and "that side."

    "bal" means foot.

so the term literally means "siding footy" better interpreted as "split footy"
