I turned to channel 490 yesterday to see MLS headlines on ESPN Today (digital) and I see one saying "Phillip Anschutz getting sued." Didn't get (or at that, understand) everthing, but in a nutshell here it goes. Phil's getting sued by NY state attorney general Eliot Spitzer for $1.5 billion in damages. Why? Something having to do with ill-gotton gains relating to transactions made by the Salomon, Smith, & Barney unit of Citigroups. They were involved in something called "spinning." This scenario is bad for us because Phil owns 5 1/2 teams in MLS. And if you didn't already know, 1.5 billion is a lot of dinero. Hopefully, he won't be taking anything from this league. So, if any of you guys understand this more or find more info please share. Thanks. ps- If I stated something incorrectly or overdramatised, don't sue me (no pun intended ) But feel free to comment.
