Nov 6 - your chance to be a star Looking for accomplished soccer players to appear in movie about 1950 US team: http://www.mlsnet.com/special/events/crusader/
Hey, I was born during Eisenhower's second term! That means I saw the 50s. Does that count? Good luck, though I'm sure there are a ton of people in the area who qualify. It seems I play against them every week. [rimshot] Hey, have you approached United? As MLS's unofficial U-20 team, maybe Bobbito, Q1, the Cartographer et al would be interested. dadman
I'll be out of the country. Of course there is that "minimum of collegiate level of soccer skill" problem too. But, we'll blame my not being cast on my being out of the country.
This in itself is very cool. When it gets to DVD it'll probably sit nicely between "Victory" "Fever Pitch" and my World Cup History on DVD (bought from BigSoccer!). If one of our posters got in the movie, that would just make it better!
damn i'll be on a plane toholland that day although given my current shape, i wouldn't be fooling anyone--though i'll match my skills with anyone (and my beer gut as well).
Or a once-promising player with bum ankles who now referees... Actually, I'd just be happy with a non-speaking role as a referee. You should see how I snap that AR's flag. Thing of beauty, I tell you.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....I'll be in Ireland at the time. And to think, I'm certianly fat and crap enough to play Harry Keogh!
why not? Meridian! Hey! We haven't spoken in awhile, but we traveled together to Richmond in June 2001 to see DCU play an Open Cup game. We came up with the "Say who? Abdul!" chant. I am actually thinking about showing up for this thing! I'm 29 now and not in good cardio shape, but what the hell? I think I can still make it look pretty for half-an-hour. What do you think? At least it will give me some good material for some new stories. Of course I do have a few trials this winter and spring...
If I can get some paperwork done through Danny Almonte's father, I'll be there! Seroiously though, what's 1 month difference?
It will probably be a month until they start shooting. But, they may require a release to be signed at tryouts for liability reasons and thus might need parent/guardian signature then.
If I make it into the movie I'll wear my "BigSoccer" T-shirt in one of the scenes. Also, I'll be accepting bids for product-placement, so if any of you have items you would like to see in the movie, feel free to make me an offer......

Wait until Revalation gets a hold of you. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=21470
You just have to irritate Revelation and or get picked on by him. It's not looking like it's going to be a very exclusive club. I think I'll let UnitedNut serve as co-chair...
If they need a fat guy to be surrounded by hordes of beautiful woman (and what movie doesn't), I'm perfect. I can even look Brasilian. Sachin
Oh yeah, for the group: Can you drink St. Pauli Girl beer at FC St. Pauli matches? If that doesn't get me a card, nothing, and I mean, nothing will Sachin
Sorry Sachin this took place in the 1950's they need a fat gringo like myself to be surrounded by beautiful woman
