2. QPR -- 11-8-3, +23, 41 points 22. Notts County -- 5-5-12, -15, 20 points ------ 26 December 3:00 p.m. Meadow Lane ------ Rangers News: The flu bug has bitten Rangers. Gallen and Bircham missed some training last week, Carlisle and Edghill missed the match, now Rowlands, Bean, and Rose are fighting it. As of Monday, those three were listed as doubtful. Rowlands is also recovering from a neck strain that forced him to sit out last week's match. Furlong and Pacquette will sit out the second of their three-match suspensions. The Opponent: Notts County currently sits in the relegation zone. They've just come out of administration ahead of a deadline by which they'd have been kicked out of the Football League. Their last six league matches (most recent first): L 0-3 at Plymouth D 1-1 v. Wycombe W 1-0 at Oldham L 1-2 v. Brighton L 0-1 at Port Vale W 1-0 v. Hartlepool During that period, they've also defeated Shildon and Gravesend (what a draw!) to advance to the third round of the FA Cup. The Series: Rangers lead the all-time series 19-10-14. It's 18-10-12 in league play, 1-0-1 in the FA Cup, and 0-0-1 in the League Cup. Since the R's have been in Division Two, it's 3-0-1 to Rangers. The clubs split the points last year, with each side winning at home, and Rangers won both meetings the season before. Before that, they hadn't met since two meetings each in 91/92 and 83/84 when Notts County was briefly up in the old Division One. The Referee: Kevin Friend does the honors. He's worked 3 D2, 9 D3, 1 FAC, and 1 LDV match this year. In his 14 matches, he's given 56 yellows (4 per game) and 3 reds. This appears to be his first year working in the Football League.

First of all, Happy Holidays to all Big Soccer R's. I won't be in Nottingham for the match Friday, trains are too wacky on Boxing Day. Hope we can get a nice 3 point present though. I'll be pumped and ready for Colchester on Sunday. Come on yule R's
The R's salvaged a point with a Gallen goal in injury time. After the R's gave up two one-goal leads to go into the half 2-2, a second-half penalty in favor of Notts County looked like it was going to send us to our first two-match losing streak of the year. Color commentator Brett Angell thought the penalty call (on Carlisle) was harsh, but admitted he did not have the ability to see a replay, so was basing off his live impression. However, even on a bad day, our boys kept at it and pulled out the point. The season is now halfway over and the R's are sitting in an automatic promotion spot. With another Plymouth victory, we've dropped four points behind them, but we maintain a two-point lead over third. One more half season of football like this (OK, not like the football we played today, but like the football we've played to date this season) and we'll be playing in Division One next season. The goal scoreres: Notts County: Heffernan with the hat trick - 6, 28, 72 (pen) QPR: Palmer 3, Richardson (og off a Carlisle shot) 11, Gallen 90+ Come on, you R's! Three points against Colchester on Sunday!
