After a horrid month, the R's finally drop out of a playoff place with a 3-0 thrashing at Notts County. The R's gave up two goals in the first fifteen minutes. QPR is currently 7th in the table (but tied with 3 other clubs, so we're just goal-difference away from 10th), just two points behind Brentford for 6th, but eight points behind 5th place and a whopping 14 points behind an automatic promotion place. Yeah I think auto promotion is probably out of reach, but we can definately still make the playoffs. Look at it this way: this current run is so poor that it can only get better from here, and even though QPR haven't won since mid October (!), promotion hopes are not at all dead. The boys just need some confidence; I have a feeling that once the R's manage another win, things will quickly turn around. The team is still a very good one in this division, if only on paper at the moment. And if the poor run continues, well then we dont deserve promotion anyway.
I was amazed that we held onto 6th place for so long. To have played this bad for this long and still be two points behind a playoff spot is pretty amazing. A look at the table makes it pretty clear there is a good deal of parity in the division. 17 of 24 teams have between 21 and 30 points. A good month from nearly anyone puts them in playoff contention. And the three teams with 21 points are in the relegation zone! I agree with you -- this team can definitely make the playoffs. If we get any kind of luck with injuries, I think we should make the playoffs.
