.....about Saturday's debacle that would be rational and would pass the board censors. There is clearly something rotten here and I have not been so disapponted since we were relegated.

Does anyone with more knowledge than me have any idea what is wrong with us? Is Pardew ineffective?

I find saturdays result unbelievable. Before Brown built his East End tourist resort and players were only 27.5 inches away from our fans, wilting violet -like teams eg Brighton and Hove Albion would sweat bullets all the way to Upton Park and were working at damage control before they got off their coach(couch).Opposing players would fight amongst themselves to get their name on the sick list for the trip east!! I remember a fairly new Man U manager called Fergeson, with Beckam in tow, when interviewed after beating us at U.P. saying how gratifying it was since NO ONE LIKED TO HAVE TO COME AND PLAY HERE.That scotsman is obviously a filthy liar since Brighton (the lion of the south),absolutly love it.I would bet that saurday night the jolly old Hove was awash with silly happy drunks, crime dipped and every women woke up satisfied sunday morn.Brown is an easy target but this time the responsability has to lie elsewhere.I also think someone owes us an apology and should come clean about this unacceptable ****************.I am asking you is A.P. up to it and do we need an arse kicker a la Bolton FC?

Hi Gordon; You're absolutely spot on; Pardew is no better ( or worse) than his predecessors ( not including Brooking); it's the PLAYERS who simply aren't performing. The strikers can't shoot, the midfielders aren't doing their part, the defenders make too many mistakes, and even tho' we clearly have far superior players compared to most of of the rest of the division, I don't think the manager can do the job for them, even if he screams and shouts, and waves his arms a lot! Only Teddy Sheringham is doing what Harewood and Zamora and company should be doing, and since he's been out of the team for several games, all is not well. The exact same thing happened in our relegation season, with almost a full international team!! Look around all the leagues, and some of the best managers are having lots of problems; maybe the pressure to win is too much for many of these players. I don't know what the solution is, other than to somehow get the players to play at their very best every damn time! I suppose that's the manager's job...but I don't know if Pardew can do it. By the way, don't forget on Friday, Dec. 10th, the Hammers game is on at the pub!!Cheers.

Hi Leslie, glad you found your way to big soccer, there can't be many left at soccernet these days, no further comment about the Brighton game, except that if the players and manager were paid on a performance basis most would be struggling this week to pay off their mortgage!!

This team needs a sports psychologist. They have a mental block of some sort, dont ask me what, I got no clue. Still, it is the only explanation I can think of why we are so underperforming.

Calling Bob Rotella, or the soccer version of Bob Rotella atleast.

I not sure about a sports psychologist, and I have no idea who Bob Rotella is either, just get someone in with a decent sized boot who can kick this team up the arse, because they bloody well deserve it.

Whatever happened to the three forwards system?
On Saturday we played with one forward, Harewood. Pardew can say what he likes, Hutchison is a midfielder by nature. Against these teams like Brighton we should have the two big men up the middle (Zamora and Harewood) with Rebrov in the hole and batter the defence into submission.
I am having doubts about Pardew as well. How come Reading is scoring at will now he is with us?

    Dr. Bob Rotella

I was only halfway serious but as I thought about it at work, maybe I was not too far off.

Cheers pething, we had someone similar in the UK sort of, his name was Brian Clough, he was as rough as guts, said what he felt, and always got the best out of his players, or else!!

Yep. I have read his column. Funny guy. Too bad he passed away the week we played Forest. He gave them some divine inspiration that day.

Who knows that the hell this side needs. All I know is right now they are not clicking. Whether Clough's way or Rotella's way, or someother way, I hope this team hits it stride and hits it soon.

I think I found myself saying pretty much this same thing for three years in a row now.
