Someone at the tailgate and I can't remember who it was told me I should post a thread on BigSoccer so mom could read what people think of her salteñas. So here it is, I'll make sure mom reads this in a day or two....
I didn't get any this time, but know that your saltenas are so good I ran through mud and puddles to try and get my hands on one. Thanks much!
Everyone tells me they're fabulous, but smack your son about the head until he saves some for the folks in the kitchen!
Deeeelicious! Simon and I shared one. I was about to take the last bite but the look on Simon's face was so pitiful I let him have it. What mamas do for their sons...and their sons' hundreds of friends! Thanks so much...
big thank you to mama solares for making the wonderful saltenas, and to carlos for bringing them. they were fantastic.
I was way too late yesterday, but I know what I missed - good stuff! PS - Everything else you make for Chico and Carlos to bring is great, too!
I didn't even know what salteñas are, but I had one anyway. It was soooooooooooooo good. I'm enlightened. Thank you so much!
damn it!!!! once again I missed the saltenas... Mama Solares if you put some in little Chico's lunch box next Saturday I would extremely grateful....
I waited two years to have my first "mama solares saltena". i was beginning to think they were mere legend and didn't actually exist. however, i finally got one yesterday, and it was more than worth the wait I couldn't bring myself to eat anything else at the tailgate after that! Thank you!!!
Dear Mama Solares, Thank you so much for the wonderful saltenas. They are beyond compare -- delicious and savory in every good way. You really should consider selling them to restaurants or having someone sell them at, say, a stadium. I mean this quite seriously. They are really great and I know they'd be very popular. Oh, and don't worry about your boys. I'm sure they'll amount so something some day, as long as they keep hanging around with us. Please accept our thanks and admiration for your generosity and obvious culinary skills. Saludos, Andrew
Mama Solares I finally got a whole one instead of the crumbs left by others in the past. The crumbs were yummy, by the way. All I can say is thank you. It was the absolute best. Words can't describe it. In your debt, Pops
Miz Solares: If you give me $50 I'll tell you all the naughty things your two boys have been doing at football for the past 14 years...
Two words: son exquisitas! I've seen the look on people's faces as they taste your delicacies and I can tell you that all the work and love you put into each one is thoroughly appreciated. BTW: for $45 I'll give you the dirt on yer boyz! GM
Dear Mama Solares, I have never, in 5 years of being in the Barra, had a Mama Solares Saltena. But I can tell you they are legendary, and apparently reason for people to start arriving in Lot 8 at 9am so that they don't miss one. I hope they're happy. I mean, uh, thanks for your tireless efforts on our behalf!
Uh, yeah. We had a nice little "discussion" about that yesterday. I'm thinking I must be adopted, she thinks somebody switched babies at the hospital.
Dearest Mama Solares. I was not lucky enough this time, but I have been lucky enough to enjoy the saltenas in years past, and I'm a better person for it. Delicious, you can taste the love that goes into them. PS - you did a pretty good job raising the boys - but be honest, Carlos has to be your favorite, right?
