We received a wonderful note that is meant for every member from one of the finest players and persons to don the uniform for both our club and country who truly embodies “Standing Up for D.C.” : Dear Screaming Eagles, I wanted to send a quick note to each of you as I have now had a moment to reflect on the recent induction ceremony. Looking back on my career, I can honestly say that I doubt there are many professional athletes that received as much support as I did from you. You guys supported me on and off the field, with D.C. United and with the National Team. You even supported me when I played for other clubs! Above all, you supported my foundation and you helped me bring joy to literally hundreds of kids over the years. In that time, we have never had one kid get arrested, we have not had one teenage pregnancy and over 95% of the kids make the honor roll. These are great accomplishments for kids who come from very tough neighborhoods where doing the right thing is rarely popular and you guys helped to make it all happen. So, I feel that I have been very fortunate to have been associated with such a great supporter’s group. Having said that, I simply say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to a wonderful group of individuals who probably don’t hear it as much as they should. Eddie
well, that was pretty damn nice of him Those "problem kids" were always well-behaved at the tailgates.
Very classy on all sides here. you SEs do a good job with all your community service mumbo-jumbo, and in my limited interactions with Mr. Pope, he is a class act all around.
mumbo jumbo, things, assorted activities.... maybe a poor word choice looking at it now, but i assure you i meant nothing negative by it.
