Excellent stuff. Another season in Bundesliga 2 will do his development no harm, hopefully this time without injury.

Taichi Hara and Istra 1961 avoid relegation on the final day in the Croatian first division.

Having never watched him not sure what to make of his performance, his team definitely played much better after his signing and he scored a double against Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian cup final last week.

Shinta Appelkamp with an assist and a goal so far against Fürth. Last match day and only two points between them, Fortuna Düsseldorf may well have been able to go up to 1. Bundesliga if it weren't for Shinta's injuries this year. He will be one to watch (and create a dedicated thread for) next season.

Appelkamp has also just been called up by Germany for their training camp preparing for the U21 Euros, as a temporary training replacement for players who are still taking part in relegation play-offs. Shinta is not being called up (as of now) for the U21 Euros proper.

He’s previously stated his dream was to play for JNT but this sudden surge in good form resulting in a call up to Germany must be tempting for him...

IMO this is good for Japan. Shinta gets some experience and market exposure which could help him with future transfers as well.

It flew under the radar but Riku Danzaki had an excellent loan spell in Australia at Brisbane Roar, netting 9 goals in 26 games. He pretty much had played almost only in Levain cup until this point.

If Im not mistaken I think Shinta Appelkamp has chosen to represent Germany which is abit disappointing considering he looks to have abit of talent. Currently in the German u21's system though I think he'd still be eligible for Japan looks like he will be choosing Germany. Correct me if I am wrong though

He went to the U-21 Euro recently with Germany and there’s also talk of him going to the Olympics. A lot of former German U21s go on to represent other countries, so there’s no reason to believe that Appelkamp is ruling out Japan.

Ive heard recently that Kaoru Mitoma is close to agreeing a deal with Brighton. Big step but I reckon he has the ability to have a impact in the league after settling in.

Youngster Rio Nitta of Sagan is going on loan to Wacken Innsbruck II (3rd div austria). He's trying the same path of Zaizen Atsushi basically (he's now in the first team)
Wacken II is coached by a japanese.

Did not know Atomu Tanaka returned Helsinki. He played CL qualifiers tonight.
He was one of their best players for some years.

Yes! Atomu Tanaka returned to HJK in 2020. He has not been quite in the same form what he was in his first time here, but he has still been a good starting-eleven player. And also still loved by fans.

But sadly, Tanaka's big dream for playing Uefa group stages with HJK, did not happened this time either.

He got injured couple weeks ago in a game against Malmö and his rest of the season is over. And, ofc, HJK made it to the Uefa group stages this year. Its very sad, because those group stage games was big dream for Tanaka as a player, but now he can only be part of them from stadium seat, cheering for his side.

He will be 34 year old this year, and nobody knows what will happen to his career next. Will he play rest of his career in HJK? Only time will tell.

During the week there were three Covid cases in the team after which 14 players had to isolate, that's why a lot of Mainz II players were moved up for that one match.
