Ok this is great: It should be noted that the Hebrew authors saw themselves as the autonomous agents of the Creator's doings, much rather than his blindly obedient slaves or even lifeless pawns that he moves at will. The Hebrews called the Creator 'mister Yahweh', and addressed them the way any of us would address our CEO in a business meeting. People who slavishly call their CEO 'Lord LORD' or something along those lofty lines are probably slacking or up to something.
Yank churches. Those yank churches also had this explanation for dinosaurs fossils, that god hid them in rocks to test people believe in him etc. The funny thing about that abrahamistic god is that for someone of his might he's quite childish, narrow minded, in constant need of gratification, vengeful towards defenseless people, with a sick mind of inflickting harm to innocent people to test if they keep worshipping him, in other words... Much like how trump acts
Yeah, the most startling thing is the claim god created man in his own image, while evidence shows it's far more the opposite way. Men, those with penises, created a god in their own image, with all the stupid male deficiencies as characteristics. It's not for nothing the abrahamistic religions are paternalistic by nature, because it was created to confirm that.
That's basic Answers in Genesis stuff. I addressed it in classes when I would spend one lecture debunking creation "science". Another one of my favorite arguments by a student "critiquing" the fact that humans and chimps are roughly 98% similar in DNA is when the student said it was no big deal because humans, clouds and watermelon share 97% of their DNA. I bet you didn't know that clouds have DNA!
I know, right? Is there even 1% DNA in common between plants and at least multi-cellular animal life?
1. @rslfanboy 2. I would bet my life that your knowledge of the Bible, as reflected in this post, is entirely second hand and from polemicists. It’s shallower than Trump’s empathy.
A compromise. Kids can get out of public school for an hour but these are the guys who have to do the christian education.
Mormons aren’t Christians. They don’t believe in the same Trinity as Christians, to start with. That’s pretty much the most inclusive way to define Christianity, believing in the Trinity, and they aren’t even in that club. I’m not saying Mormons are bad people; Jews aren’t Christians either, and pointing that out isn’t hateful. It’s just a fact.
