How nice to have evangelical Christians preaching to us right before the national anthems in Copa America on national TV. I guess Copa America has been taken over by religious zealots now as well.

It is a Conmebol tournament, you may not like what some players will do after they score a goal.

This makes no sense, unless Osteen doesn’t pay income tax.

Personally I think any “nonprofit” whose figurehead pulls a salary like that is automatically suspect.

Active chair of a California Moms for Liberty group goes ballistic when she sees three drag queens in Hawaii. Sadly, her kid is non-binary, so no doubt has a very difficult life ahead. Kudos to the drag queens who maintained their cool when being aggressively verbally attacked by a nutjob.

Effective immediately, Oklahoma schools have to include the Ten Commandments and the Bible in their curriculum.

I would be happy to do this, but I can guarantee that they would object to how I teach using the Bible as I would use it to show how evangelicals are clueless when it comes to what the Bible says and how blatantly wrong many of the Biblical stories are.

OK students, open your Bibles to Genesis 6-9. Today we are going to learn how there are two contradictory flood stories in the Bible, one based on the god named YHWH (translated as "LORD") and the other based on the god Elohim (translated as "God". We'll see how the YHWH story is ripped off from the Babylonian account, while the earlier Elohim story is part of a different biblical narrative that is based on Canaanite religious traditions. This, of course, is reflected in the contradictory creation accounts in Genesis 1 and 2. As we read the story, keep in mind the Mesopotamian beliefs that the gods ate by smelling the aroma of burnt offerings, that the earth was flat and the implications of the flood story on human biological variation and the Mormon belief that American Indians were a "lost tribe of Israel". Now, let's get started in debunking evangelical beliefs about the historicity of the Bible!

    Math will be fun.

    54,000,000 + 80,000,000 < 6000

That's the length of the Jurassic period plus the length of the Cretaceous period.

It's going to play out the way they want it to play out.

If I'm a system superintendent rubbing his palms together at the presence of the ten commandments and the Bible in K-12 classrooms, I already know who you are. I'll send you to the most right-wing school in the system and/or pay you a teacher's salary to serve lunch. You will get tired of it before I face any repercussions from my equally conservative peers on a lawsuit bench or jury.

I simply want to make it very clear to the forum in general that there isn't any reason to have hope. Clever lesson plans won't do anything but get you fired. I think someone a few weeks ago was talking about the importance of hope. Sorry, that ship sailed.

Oh God yeah, there's no way on earth they would let me teach the factual information related to the Bible. It's their understanding or the highway, and by "highway" I mean jail (if you're lucky).

I personally know someone who said to me that she wanted to believe science but she wasn't going to Hell. Yeah, I know- whatever she believes in already knows she ain't fully on board with the Christian "knowledge" bullshit, but I guess she thinks her behavior will cover it.

I feel that those people are the most dangerous. They will gladly report you to the proper authorities because they feel it will buy them cover.
