If they do force through no-fault divorce, I have a feeling the rates of people getting married will drop. Sure, young evangelicals will still marry and be stuck, but non-religious people will even more increasingly just live together instead of put themselves in a bind. This will result in the GOP doing all it can to force people to marry, come hell or high water (that phrase seems to take on a new reality with the climate crisis happening).

Not at all cynical about the first two. I know far too many divorced people not to be cynical about the third... and the fourth? I've taught school. I know half of these people had no business procreating.

I agree. Non-marriage is trending already and no-fault divorce would just spike that trend. Given that not marrying seems a.simple response to this particular draconian urge, it's one I'm not so worried about.

They’ll change tax structures, where married couples get huge breaks, and kids that don’t have a married M/F parent couple don’t count as deductions, etc…. They’ll punish us non-conformists somehow.

    In many cases, yes.

I mean--Republicans in many 'red' states are actively promoting a brain drain which will ultimately lower their standard of living and quality of life, but culture warriors gonna culture-war.

So these states transition more and more towards being only a source of raw materials and cheap labor while we become the imperialist colonializers that the left already says we are but on our own continent.
    Historical trends for the win.

In an alternate universe where the Senate, the EC, and right-wing courts didn't give rural conservatives an undemocratic veto over the rest of us, I'd agree with you.

More like they're gonna drown and drag us down with them--the blue cities in red states first, then they'll come for us evil coastal elitists.

More likely the rural masses pull away from political participation as something alien to them. Like in authoritarian and 3rd world countries there will continue to be voting but those elected will be under no obligation to their constituents. They will be fairly easy to control.

Oh, it'll get worse for them in the long run. I'm just saying--we won't be able to prosper and exploit their self-inflicted weakness.

In the long run colonialism isn't good for the colonializer or the colonialized. It doesn't mean we can avoid it though.

Buddy bought a Playstation 4 ages ago, he bought Mortal Kombat. Wiped the floor with his son. Said he remembered everything.

Did the same with Street Fighter 2.

I've told this story here before. The last time I saw my best friend in high school, she told me that if her son were gay (I believe he is), she would immediately disown him. She told me that being gay is a choice, but that being Christian is not. She is a fundamentalist, a young earth creationist and believes in predestination (hence her belief that she did not choose to be a Christian).
