Not quite as funny as Stallions, but when I came to college in the US our school had a group called “Surfers for Christ”. I never understood the point, but I thought it was hilarious.

Whatever, says Francis, God may want to diversify but I still lead his bigger group.

    I'm a mass shooter.

    European-American. White folks.
    I should have been clear.

This is an overview of it and this is the abstract with the doi link to the actual journal article, from which I have copied the following:

From 2019, but this was the first hit. African Americans account for just over half of all arrests for homicide.

    https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/topic-pages/tables/table-43

It’s one thing to say living in a white supremacist society causes XYZ. I agree.

Saying XYZ aren’t true because you don’t want it to be true is a whole ‘nother thing. It’s MAGA type behavior.

There is no official one. Because some studies change based on number wounded and dead. Some want 3 dead, some want 4, some say 3 wounded is good enough.

He said European mass shooters and corrected himself to mean European mass shooters. You chose homicide by blacks. Something about pedantics and words etc, etc. Keep chopping, that TotL tree will fall someday.

    You lost me

Deadtigers, this is what I was responding to. He wrote that Europeans have a tendency toward violence but then corrected himself to mean white Americans. At that point I took a moment to look up the facts and I found that he’s wrong there too.

The link says 3 killed, so I looked at Wiki and sorted by number killed. Looked to be 30 just in 2023.

I'm not registered on Statista, so I don't know the actual source.

    @superdave

You see his correction or were you blinded by your self-righteousness?

Your quote here is not about white mass shooters in America. It is not about black mass shooters. It is just black arrests for homicides.

    You are lacking consistency.

This has always been my view. I have no problem with faith, but if you start acting like the evangelicals have the last 40 years or like the Muslims in Hamtramck with gay people, the gloves are off. That and that the likes of Boebert are going around saying "separation of church and state is bad!" Well, it reeks of ignorance and why the founders were always hell no about religion and government.

On a related note with the Catholic Church, I live not too far from Father Coughlin's church. And it still is Father Coughlin's church in a sense. When MI's abortion law was on the ballot, the church had a ton of signs saying vote no. Like, a lot. Complete with crosses to honor abortions. To add, I sometimes walk over there (It was my grandmother's church after all) and wander the smallish grounds. There's a small memorial that is dedicatedt to the victims of abortion. I can't help but shake my head and think, "Why not victims of war? Or those who struggled in poverty?"

Will also add that it is amusing seeing the online Catholic converts or the American wing of Catholics freak out about the Pope.

So this is the thread where we talk about the intersectionality of politics and religion?

So we can all bag on Christian Dominionists then?

Ted Cruz says hi. And his dad is a prominent pastor. They're the bunch who would be first to have public stonings if they could get away with it.

Good lawd. These people are a cult. Why they chose Trump is still beyond me. Cruz is more a true believer than him.

I'm in favor of a complete ban until we can figure out why the hell they're doing most of the mass shootings in 'Merica.

I recall that after Orange Dickhead instituted the Muslim ban many Real Americans showed up at airports to express their support of refugees & immigrants. He signed that shit like a week in to his fake presidency.
