Is anyone actually goin to this? $25 a head isn't really that bad of a deal, but alas I can't get outta Indy that early.
The Arena Grand Theater opened last year across from Nationwide Arena in the Arena District. It's eight theaters (I think) in various sizes from ridiculously big to club-size. They are all at the same time both posh and swanky. Every theater features THX sound, and the concessions serve Gordon Biersch draught and gourmet pretzels (among other things). The best part is that the arm rests fold up and away meaning that you can snuggle if you want, or if the seat on the other side is empty, you can spread out a bit. If you're feeling particularly up-scale you can upgrade to and sit in the all-leather assigned-seating reserved balcony. http://www.arenagrand.com It sure beats the Mallplex.
Re: Re: Noshing with Jimbo - 25 Bucks a Head Matinee tickets are $4. You get a few more kiddies to that...but their THX (or is it SDDS) theater is incredible...As well, you can pay an extra $3 a seat to sit in assigned seating in the balcony on the leather seats. IMHO, if you need to see a movie that has really good special effects and/or sound...go to the Grand. It is really worth it. Otherwise, go to the $3.50 mantinee at the unhip theater around the corner away from all of the high school brats at Lennox or the overpriced craphole that's AMC Easton.
Is this a good place to brag about my surround sound system? You know, optical digital, dolby ProLogic II, 125 Watts/per and 150 in the subwoofer? No? OK, nevermind.
Re: Re: Re: Noshing with Jimbo - 25 Bucks a Head Hell yes. I was in the 2nd row of a THX movie. When that THX bass sound-check thingy came on, i could just feel it throughout the whole room.
I didn't go, but I did see Kyle Martino in a luxury box at the Jackets game talking to Jeff Hogan last night. I guess the team went over to watch the end of the game. He was on the broadcast in I believe the 3rd period and talked about the match, etc. They seemed to pimp a lot about his winning ROY, which was nice for Kyle. I wonder if him name dropping Lamar's name on the broadcast pissed anyone off?
