Enjoyed watching the kids do well against an admittedly pretty weak Canaries side, thought Konate and Gomez looked pretty solid and Origi had some good moments. Ox was a mystery; really hope Keita hasn't broken down again.
Klopp afterward on the halftime change and improvement: "Half-time we had to change and Naby had kicked the grass, a little… sort of thing, we are not too concerned but we had to change. Then, we had Curtis in the half-space and Tyler in the six and it looked much [more] natural immediately so then the boys passed quicker, passed smarter and we changed Oxlade, a little bit higher on the pitch on the left wing, and Taki, who is obviously in really good shape, more in the centre and half-spaces so Ox could use his speed and Taki connected the game together with Tyler and Curtis. So, it was all good, we scored the second and third goals and controlled the game, which was absolutely brilliant. The kids did exceptionally well, I have to say. All three, physically really strong and that’s maybe the biggest surprise, that they could go 92 minutes. I am really happy for them, it was a big moment for the boys."
Super happy for Taki and the kids. Konate and Gomez had a few loose moments, especially holding the line but pleased overall. Getting all our CBs fit and in form will be such a blessing. Getting a little concerned for Ox. I felt he disrupted the midfield in the first half, which impacted both Naby and Curtis. Love Tsimi. Love our manager.
Gomez's rust is showing. He's been too far back quite a bit so far - keeping the attackers on side. He will get back to his best soon. Biggest issue - how do we do a rotation that gets all 4 of them enough game time?
almost forgot .... the travelling Kop were fantastic last night, loud, non-stop. I loved the Suarez chants.
Excellent. It was like watching Liverpool schoolboys playing out there, ‘cept for Joe Most of those ‘kids’ would still be at high school here. A terrific confidence booster for Taki. Something he’s been lacking in his prem games. Was there a reason to bring Hendo in stoppage time that I missed? Ox, yeah! He’s never got back to his pre injury form has he.
We all know that the League Cup hasn’t been a priority for Klopp. At the same time, compared to City, our draws have been usually other Premier League sides; City get Mansfield at home, Peterborough away, Colchester away, Swansea in the semis and then a PL side in the final. So maybe it’s time for luck to throw City a PL side or two? Well, we all know what’s happening then, right? City vs Liverpool in R4.
Arse vs Leeds could be a good game. Carabao Cup Round of 16 draw Chelsea v Southampton Arsenal v Leeds United Stoke City v Brentford West Ham v Manchester City Leicester City v Brighton Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur QPR v Sunderland Preston North End v Liverpool
At one point our right side (Bradley -18 and Gordon -16) were over-matched by the previous right side defender (Milner -35)...in age!
Liverpool get drawn against Preston away in the next round. Great news. Another chance for kids like Kaide Gordon to get a start.
which will produce a last 8 of: Chelsea Arsenal Brentford Manchester City Leicester City Tottenham Hotspur QPR Liverpool
