I thought some people here have mentioned they read this before. Can anyone help me out with the ending. I have a horrible feeling that the ending was not happy at all. He is caling from somewhere , but he doesn't know where he is. He keeps on crying out for Midori. Also chronologically this is the third from last part of the book. Cause really you have him mentioning how Nagasawa's girlfriend died and how he never wrote him again, and then at the very beginning of the book you have him on the plane in anguish. Neither time does he seem happy at all. And neither time is Midori mentioned. Yet some people are tying to tell me the ending is happy. I don't see that. Any help here?
