The good news out of Norway's training camp is that even though there have been a few minor injuries, everyone in Norway's 21 player squad did practice today. There still hasn't been any official word yet about Coach Berntsen's starting 11, but it will likely be quite similar to the following lineup that was used when Norway managed a 2-2 draw against Germany 12 days ago:

Norway (4-3-3): Bente Nordby - Siri Nordby, Trine Rønning, Ane S. Horpestad, Gunhild B. Følstad - Solveig Gulbrandsen, Ingvild Stensland, Lene Storløkken - Leni Larsen Kaurin, Ragnhild Gulbrandsen, Melissa Wiik.

    HEIA NORGE!!

NB! Norges kamp mot Canada sendes på NRK1 klokken 14.00 i morgen 12. september.

Canada is difficult to predict at this time. They have some, presumably minor, injuries, they have players relatively new to their positions, and they haven't had the number of games against top opponents they had hoped for. In 2003 they were on a winning roll in their preparation games, and the games were at home and televised so people had reasonable expectations for a successful WC.

Norway of course has to be favored. It could even be a repeat of Canada's 2003 opener against Germany. But I expect it will be closer and there is even hope of a surprising result. Because of their style Canada can be outplayed much of the game, be dominated possession-wise and still snatch a goal or two. Much depends on their recently shaky defense.

It should be pointed out that much like the U-20 WC in July, that the Women's World Cup will be streamed on http://www.cbcsports.ca

Anyone outside Canada will have to find a Canadian proxy to use.

All games will be available for streaming as well as VOD of games already played.

    Good afternoon neighbours.

Luckily for you you can lose to a team like Canada and still be sure of advancing from the group.
Too bad everyone can't have such luxury, huh?

Are all of the "supporters" at the China-Denmark match? It's pretty quiet.

Canada had a goal called back that looked good to me. Unlucky not to be up 2-0.

I agree Nordby just never had a grip on the ball. unlucky. I hope we don't hang back and defend our forwards are getting a lot of chances.

Why do Canada sit back whenever they have the lead. If they would have went at Norway more they could have beat them

"Where's Charmaine Hooper...oh, that's right, she's not on the team..."

That was a great call on ESPN.

Yes, but what do we make of it?

I also noticed that same phenomena at the men's Euro '04. I always wanted to study the astrological side of it, but never came around to do so. ;)

Yeah, it can be a pain even if watching live on multiple televisions... Almost makes the online streams worth it so there is a delay.

Yeah, I've been flipping back and forth between the two (watch one, have the matchtracker up for the other). More than once so far, I've noticed a goal on the matchtracker, changed channels to see the replay (and probably missed it), and while I was looking for the replay, a goal would be scored on the other channel. The updates from Rob Stone that started today definitely helped with that.

I gotta think the trend will end Friday. I can't see a USA/Sweden game resembling Argentina/Japan.

Norway are not as good as I expected, and Australia are better. I see Australia making good use of the space in front of the Norwegian back four. Australia should win that match and the group.

i watched china to see how good they were, missed norway-canada, but will watch them on saturday??

how old is hooper?? world cup finals are for the young...hooper can't be anywhere near the beast she sued to be....you gotta go with the young talent

this blame it on the coach, when it's the players who play, which counts...and in a one goal loss, there isn't much difference..

i saw the 2nd half of the aussie match, and canada is good enought to beat them....

and if norway can beat australia, then canada bouils down to ghana and goal difference...

all those canadians giving up on their team, that, just, isn't canadian...eh??

Canada showed nothing new except for a big hole upfront called Charmaine Hooper.

That's totally not true. They also showed a big new hole in the back called Sharolta Nonen.
