The North West Football Awards were held at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Stretford (home to Lancashire Cricket Club) last night. Ian Holloway capped off a superb first year as Pool boss by being named the North West Manager of the year. He was rewarded for his achievements in getting the club promoted to the Premier League by a select judging panel. And he beat the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Big Sam "Hoofball" Allardyce to the award. Charlie Adam also won the Championship Player of the Year award - voted for by North West football fans. And club legend, former Blackpool and England right-back Jimmy Armfield picked up a Lifetime Achievement award. Assistant manager Steve Thompson and keeper Matthew Gilks were present in Stretford to pick up the awards on behalf of the manager and Charlie.
