what a garbage team n ireland are. 2 chances 2 goals, talk about luck and then 11 men home. Teams like these destroy football.

That says a lot for the other teams in the group.

Listen we are a tiny country with no world class indivduals in our team. We have our style and it's not pretty but no one is saying it is. In fact we mock ourselves with our " we're not Brazil we're Northern Ireland" chant. When you have no world class players then you just have to do what is effective. The team has a lot of heart, courage and belief now. We can only do what we do best and do it effective. We have proved it has been enough to beat England, Spain and noe Sweden.

    Top of the table!

Suck it up and quit being a sore loser.

Congrats guys - great result. I was watching our match vs. Slovakia on tv but I can hear the celebrations from here (my student house is on the Lisburn Road in Belfast)! Don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight...

What match were you watching? The only way NI were lucky was that we didnt score an own goal when the clearance hit the post.

The first half was fairly even. In the 2nd half we got an early goal and you's pushed for the equaliser the rest of the half but we held out.

    Sweden are an average team.

NI were even missing some key players as well.

Kudos to this NI team! To beat England, Spain & Sweden is really impressive! Keep up that good work ... and maybe we'll see you in Switzerland/Austria.

PS: That Healy guy is incredible!! I think he should be playing in a better team than Leeds Utd...

There's still a lot of work to do with Spain and Sweden (and Latvia and Iceland) away. Hopefully NI doesn't fall apart like Wales in Euro 2004 qualifying. I want to see NI qualify for something.

Mark McAllister is a young highly rated striker from Dungannon Swifts. He recently rejected a move to Celtic and may end up in England next season.
