To be honest, this is the problem - not the Nordecke. The good folks who make up the Nordecke (because it's people, not concrete) would happily have told you about the connection and significance. Reddit, though, is a lynch mob.

    But I digress.

I think the simplest explanation is: "How Wonderful Life Is While You're In The World" is a double-edged nod to both the LGBTQ community and the team itself.

    We're happy you're here, basically.

    At least that's my interpretation.

God forbid you go on there and explain the truth about CrewRhino.

    Likewise.

They solicited gay artists to come up with an idea for Pride Night. The gay artist chose to make a design based on a gay icon. There's really not much else to it.

And then they hoisted it up before kick-off because...go Crew I guess.

They do 7-10 tifos every year. The only ones that could be interpreted as political are Pride/Juneteenth night and Latino heritage night. How much louder do you cheer when they hoist every other one that is a pure show of support for the Crew?

For the latino night one you could highlight latino crew players, which I believe was done a year or two ago (or at least the nationality of some of our players).

    Juneteenth is obvious.

Pride is harder obviously. I'd just say taking a tifo of Crew Cat dressed as Elton John (initially I thought it was Disco Stu from The Simpsons lol) with a somewhat ambiguous sentence above it probably isn't the best use of messaging. I'm sure the Nordecke (org) felt very full of itself at that moment, though I didn't realize at the time it was a pride thing, thus it was very confusing. All I'm saying.

This group running the Nordecke think they are much cleverer than they actually are.

And before someone gets butthurt and responds,"oh well if you have such a great idea why dont you pay up and run?" just stfu lol. No one wants to be a part of that hot mess and this is just a forum (sub-forum even) where we're just talking.

I'd be willing to bet, since the FO had to approve that language, it was just ambiguous enough to make everyone happy keep everyone calm.

So 30% of their tifos have nothing to do with the team?

This is when it used to happen and when it (IMO) should be.

Lift the banners up as the team takes the field and down by the anthem. Lifting them up for the kickoff means that views get blocked.

If you want to frame it that way, I guess. You could also say that at 90% of Crew matches you aren't getting subjected to seeing a tifo don't like. But since you didn't answer my question, I'm guessing you have minimal to no emotional reaction to the other 70% of tifos. So it's not really about the tifo, is it?

Easy question that I don’t know the answer to, but if I want to vote in next year’s elections, do I have to be a Nordecke member before the end of 2026? or do I have to be a paying member for one year before I can vote? TIA

Before the end of 2026 to vote in the election of 2027 board members.

Edit: Unless that's a bylaw that's up to be changed in their current review process.

If you join this year, you will get a vote in the next election. What is in flux is when that election happens. With MLS' switch to winter calendar, they need to update bylaws to have memberships and board tenures align with the new seasons. So some iteration of the board will get an 18-month term and memberships will need to follow that, unless they decide to do a separate short-term membership for the sprint season before resuming 12-month cycles. My understanding is they're currently debating whether to make these changes in 2027 or 2028.

Malte Amundsen was interviewed by NBC4's David DeGuzman about the Viking chant.

    Malte hopes it catches on.
