For those of us that were not able to attend the game and don't get the WB, how did Noonan do as a starter up top?

It sounds like we did well until the second goal. When did Wolde come in?

    Thanks for the info.

He and TnT were not on the same page for most of the time he was in. They appeared to be making the same runs, and neither was as effective. Not to second-guess, but it sure seems that starting Harris and bringing in fresh-legged Noonan at 70 might have given us a different result.

I agree. He definately needs some more late game experience before he can start. He made a brilliant run in the box in the first half but got beat with a one touch too many. Had that occured late in the game the tired KC defence might not have caught up to him and it would have been a better scoring chance.

I don't know, I think Noonan's ~70 minutes or so were much better than Wolde's average 70 minutes.

Hopefully JMM will return after our week off, letting us bring Noonan off the bench without sacrificing the second forward position too much.

I think Noonan played pretty well - I'd give him a B+. At times he looked like a rookie, but a pretty sophisticated rookie. He got himself a couple of very good looks at goal, but on his best chance was shot right at Meola.

His task wasn't helped by the fact that Twellman really played poorly, failing to control balls and making some horrible passes.

Twellman and Noonan seem to have a much better understanding than Twellman and Harris. I don't think the problem is that Harris is so horrible, it's just that he and Twellman don't fit well together. Probably in the next couple of weeks we'll see Moore and Harris at some point and if that doesn't work, then I might be more critical of Wolde, but I have a sense that that pairing might be more successful.

Pat Noonan is definitely very young and often looks like he's wondering where to go, but all the same the kid has got talent, and with good coaching he's going to make a fine player.

Noonan had a good game, wasnt quite on the right page all the time, but showed that he can be a very dangerous player for the revs.

I remember saying much the same thing about Jay Heaps a couple of seasons ago. I was quite an admirer of him back then, even though he often seemed clueless on the field. You could definitely see the emerging talent in him back then.

Since then, he has calmed down, learned to be more comfortable on the field, and now he is a solid back on the team.

I predict the same thing for Noonan.

Actually, on rewatching it he seemed more in tune with the actions of other players than i originally thought. He wasnt involved in the flow constantly, but the majority of his touches were good ones, and he created a couple of dangerous opportunities.

As for being another Jay Heaps, Noonan is clearly a capable MLS player right here and now, and I think will only get better.
