How sad is their history when Crew great Brain McBride is the player they say best embodies the club?
BTW, I took a look at the MLS home page just now (on my way to viewing the construction cams) and the Sacramento page link is gone. That was fast. They are the next "Miami Screaming Eagles" I guess (WHA team that never played).
Not a good look.... https://www.yahoo.com/sports/usmnt-...c-dallas-anthem-medievel-times-174617751.html
Sadly, you're right. I've been watching Sky Sports News on NBCSN and every time they go to commercial, there's an anti-racism message. They also had a message today: "Contact us here if you see any racist messages online." Some of their fans will throw a banana and not even think twice.

https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/2020-other-teams-news-thread.2108324/page-60#post-39361763 Old-timers remember when players signed with MLS and were assigned to teams. Headlines would read like: "MLS signs Player XYZ and immediately assigns him to Team 123." Since then, this has obviously changed a lot. From the article: "The league's statement said the investigation will center on whether the signing complied with its salary budget and roster guidelines." Since when did MLS have a salary budget and roster guidelines for new teams and Garber's pet teams? (Sarcasm, or something.) But with Garber Bucks and all the various rules, I have a feeling we know how this "investigation" may end. I'm reminded of MLS not wanting legal situations in Columbus to go to discovery. This is definitely setting up to be a huge mess.
I think it's more likely the league will try to make it look like they're a legitimate organization by fining Miami something like a second round draft pick or a hundred grand or some other inconsequential thing.
Maybe Matuidi is trying to avoid taxes by having some of his DP compensation paid under the table? Becks might have experience with that from his days with the Galaxy and thought it was how MLS did things.
My thought was that Becks got creative with Matuidi's compensation without first bending the knee and kissing the ring of Garber and the Board of Governors (other "Investor-Operators"). I'd hazard a guess that if he just asked first, he might be okay. I'm sure they would have said fine and had Garber create some new version of Garberbux to get him. But since he didn't, they're like Dave Seville yelling "ALVIN!" in those Chipmunk cartoons. I suspect Becks' punishment will be about the same as Alvin's too. Becks and Miami are singing Chipmunks of MLS, being used to dazzle marquee European players into considering the league as a destination. They won't punish him too hard because they want him to keep singing.

Week 5 Sunday, May 16 Cincinnati v. Miami 4:00 pm FOX FCC opens their new stadium on Week 5, it seems.
Thanks, so the funny thing was that a few years ago I drove out to Indiana in order to see them play an away match and there were more FC Columbus supporters there than home fans. Of course a rain deluge caused the match to be postponed. Indiana plays in a sports complex located in the middle of a cornfield!
