This Marshall-Louisville game's been a disappointment. Also, Marshall's coaches are FINALLY taking Leftwich out, oops for one play. What the fook is Marshall trying to prove by leaving him in? What does Byron have to prove? Earth to Marshall, you're doing Leftwich nothing but harm, he can barely walk.
Yead, dud of a game. As for Leftwich, I think it was him all along who wanted to keep on playing. Kid's proud of his school and teammates and wanted to stay in as long as he could in his final college football game.
Conference USA, Mountain West these are some pitiful leagues and they get like 3-5 bowl teams each!!!
Re: Re: Non-BCS Bowl Games Discussion (R) It does say a lot about how tough he is (another NFL selling point), but it would have really sucked for him to injure himself much worse by staying in a rout.
I take it you're not making the trip. Pontiac, MI the day after Christmas ain't an easy sell. Everyone getting bumped down a bowl, reason 56365 not to like ND.
I ain't goin. Dee-Troit is a tad colder, IIRC, then Boston. Whatever. 4 straight bowl years. Thank God someone took the Mich St. job. TOB is always tabbed to go Big 10+1 school.
I have never understood why we have a bowl game in Detroit. It used to be called the "Marshall bowl" because they won the MAC I think 5 years in a row and went there every year. They've since been able to go to the GMAC Bowl the past few years. The only advantage now is that its being held at Ford Field instead of the Silverdome, so its actually in downtown Detroit and not Pontiac.
D'oh! I forgot about Ford Field. I think the bowl's there since it's relatively easy for the MAC team's fans/team/staff to travel there.
55-15? Kingsbury 375? ouch. If it weren't for the fact that I was stuck in India I'd be roadtripping to Orlando, Florida for Capital One Bowl (Citrus) for PSU - Auburn. Oh does anybody else think that Trev Alberts is a moron? That idiot thinks that Penn St. is 1-dimensional with Larry Johnson and if Auburn holds him under 100 that Auburn will win. As if they don't have Zach Mills and then Tony and Bryant Johnson to throw to. Not to mention a jacked up defense. He has got to be the most ignorant "Analyst" out there.
Yes, Trev Alberts is a moron. He is such a homer for the Big 12. Yes, that is a very good conference but as an analyst, one should be neutral.
In the ESPN Bowl predictions, Trev picked 7 Big 12 teams to win. He also picked 0 Big 10 teams to win.
I like watching Hawaii's offense and all, but their games are so freaking long! Over 2 hours to play the first half! Not quite as long as the 72-45 romp over BYU last year, but it'll be after midnight ET before this ends. Penalties had a lot to do with it though, each team had about 8 in the first half.
Trev Alberts is an ass. I have seen him make wrong predictions so many times this season and never face up to it. By the way, Jack Edwards is kicking ass in the Hawaii bowl here.
I saw Steve Levy doing the Hawaii Bowl earlier. At least he opened the telecast with Rod Gilmore. I didn't watch long enough to see Jack Edwards if he was there. And I just turned it back on and it's still Levy and Gilmore. And the hot (though not tonight as much as she was on the Keith Olbermann Evening News) Alex Flanagan on the sidelines. Trev Alberts is a smart guy, but he says some stupid sh!t. And his NFL career was less distinguished than Brian Bosworth's. BTW, a woman played Division I-A college football tonight for the first time ever. Good for her. One of the other women to have been on a D-1A roster (for a spring game, at least) played for the W-League team I used to work for.
Ever see Necassary Roughness? (A Must see for all college Football fans) when Kathy Ireland was the kicker. That was awsome. I love to see girls get a chance as PK and FG kickers, But I hope a coach doesn't put them on Kick-Off teams no matter how strong her legs is. Too Dangerous for a 135 girl or guy.
Tulane-Hawaii had just about everything. 2 blocked FGs by Hawaii yet still got outscored 20-0 in the third quarter, a safety, a punt return TD, which completely turned the game around for Tulane.
Was anyone turned off of the fact that Hawaii was playing in a home bowl game and all I saw were empty seats? I would also try to watch some of the I-AA or DII games but after seeing a boat load of empty seats, the game would usually not hold my attention. Sounds kinda like soccer (for nonsoccer fans), huh.
Didn't bother me, but when they played Oregon State a few years back, the place was sold out. The worst crowd ever was a Christmas Eve bowl with Georgia and Virginia. Maybe 4000 people there, but what do you expect, two east coast teams that are 8000 miles away, and likely already (their fans) had other holiday plans. As long as Hawaii's bowl eligible every year, the ConAgRecall, I mean ConAgra Bowl will do okay.
smart? how is he smart? the guy regularly says the dumbest things i have ever heard out of a college football 'expert' i mean the guy is almost as loopy as the king of 'loopiness' beno cook. trev alberts is the biggest homer i have ever seen in sports...guy needs to get a clue and realize he is doing a national telecast not a big 12/nebraska telecast...he will not be on espn next year, he'll be tossed to the wolves at fox sports net.
Let me ask you this: have you ever met the guy? Ever had a conversation with him? I used to cover the Colts during Alberts' brief NFL career. Interviewed him on the day he was drafted, and many, many times after that. Talked to him many other times. The guy's bright and articulate. Which doesn't always preclude one from saying dumb things about football (case in point: Tim Green. Ostensibly one of the most intelligent guys around, yet he says incredibly stupid things when it comes to football). Ever heard Larry Munson at Georgia? John Sterling with the Yankees (although, truth be told, John Sterling's first love is John Sterling, above and beyond the Yankees)? Rick Jenerette in Buffalo? Ever hear Gene Peterson with the Rockets? Ken Harrelson with the White Sox? Mick Hubert at Florida? Van Miller with the Bills? Bob Lamey with the Colts? The late Johnny Most in Boston? And that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others.
