    Nominate BL best XI 2005-2006
As the Bundesliga nears the end, who do you think are the best players in each position.

    My nominees are:
    Goalkeeper: Enke
    Right back : Rafinha
    Left back: Lahm
    Center backs: Naldo, Van Buyten
    D.M - Demichelis
Creative mids: Lincoln, Borowski and Van der Vaart
    Strikers: Berbatow and Podolski

    coach: Thomas Doll
    ………………………… Enke

    …….Rafinha………Van Buyten…...Naldo……….Lahm

    ………………………….Demichelis……………………

    Borowski…………Lincoln……………Van der vaart

    ………………………………..podolski

    …………………………Berbatow

    Why I left them out

*Lucio: I think his game has gone down and I will be watching if Brazil’s coach will include him in the squad, personally I think his best position is defensive midfield, his coach should realize that.

*Sagnol: good coming forward and possessing the ball. Not that good defensively

*Why I chose Lincoln instead of ballack? : team work, long passes, work rate . Don’t get me wrong ballack is good but he is not a playmaker, he is supposed to play in this system 3-5-2, just behind the main striker because of his scoring abilities and his powerful shot. But in midfield you need to be shrewd and have good ball distribution skills like Lincoln or Borowski.

    • Podolski instead of Klose: in tough matches like the match between Italy and Germany or Werder vs juventus, klose failed even to turn or have a meaningful shot at goal. But when he plays the likes of kaiserslautern, Costa Rica, Poland and equador the guy is capable of scoring a hat trick in each. I advice klinsmann to include klose in the starting 11 of the group stages of the world cup but drop him to the bench if Germany plays a strong team. On other hand podolski is not shy to score against big teams like he showed against brazil. Klose did not socre any goal form the ¼ finals onwards in the 2002 world cup.

    • Berbatow instead of vittek, makaay. Berabtow is consistent, vittek is just having a good time. Makaay is lazy and only waits for chances to come his way. The team plays with less men whenever makaay is on the pitch

    • Borowski instead of schweinsteiger because the latter knows when to release and pass the ball. While the former dribbles non-stop and in most counter attacking situation ends up killing the chance.

    • Why enke: he plays in the worst defense in the league but still has the most outstanding saves in the league. Unlike other goalkeepers who everything small they save the media makes it to look big.

    --------------Weidenfeller------------

    Sagnol------Lucio------Woerns----Fathi

    Mahdivikia---Ballack---Frings---van der Vaart

    ------------Klose-----Vittek----------

    And I still think you're on crack. :D :p

I don't get why you bring up the Confederations Cup, grammatical mistakes and the Brazil NT in this conversation either.

I am not able to watch enough BL to weigh in on this in a meaningful fashion. If you went strictly by the Kicker rankings:

Weidenfeller-Lucio, Sagno, Woerns-Frings, Borowski, Micoud, Ballack, Soldo/Jarolim-Klose, Jones (3-5-2; if you went 4-4-2, Rafinha makes the team and the Soldo/Jarolim two-headed MF is dropped).

BTW, the title of the thread is, "Nominate BL best XI 2005-2006." I'm going to assume, based upon that title, that you want the best 11 players in the BL this season, based upon their play this season. I'm not sure you followed your own edict. For example, you picked Podolski over Klose, even though Klose has scored more than twice the number of goals (I think Klose has 20, while Podolski has 9, and two of those were PKs), and has an average Kicker rating which is something like 1,5 points higher than Podolski (a mind-numbing difference). There is no question that Klose has had an extraordinary year and Podolski, at best, has been average, in the BL in 2005-06. So to include Podolski at Klose's expense is just simply indefensible, if your goal was, in fact, to pick the best BL 11. If your goal was to pick the team with the brightest future, or the best international players, well, that's another story. But what Podolski's scoring record against Brazil versus Klose's scoring record against Italy has to do with the level of play exhibited by these players in the BL is beyond me.

Hmmm let's give this a shot:

    --------------Weidenfeller-----------------

    Sagnol----------Lucio--------------Jansen

    -------------Frings------------------------

    Mahdevekia-------------------Borowski

    -------Ballack------VDV----------------

    ------Klose---------Altintop(eh what the heck)

I don't know why Lincoln and Naldo would belong in this team....

in terms of technical abilities, in tough matches podolski is likely to shine while klose in small matches the world cup will prove that

Yea, but what does that have to do with how well they do in the Bundesliga? I can understand that English maybe your 4th language, but this still has nothing to do with the Bundesliga.

    Based on this season..

    ---------------Weidenfeller--------

    ----Sagnol----Lucio----Woerns---Fathi--

    -------------Demichelis--------------

    ------Frings------------Borowski-----

    -----------Van der Vaart---------------

    --------Klose-----Vittek-------

    Player of the season: Klose

    Some tough choices here...

Mahdavikia could just as easily be in the RB spot as Sagnol. He's been outstanding this season. Rafinha's been great as well, but his time will come. Lahm's been very solid since coming back from injury (I'd say perhaps Bayern's most consistent player of late), and the LB position was a toughy to pick (but currently not a very deep position in the BuLi). I pick VdV over Ballack and Micoud based on his transformation of HSV into a legitimate title contender, but this position is very close too. I'll take Vittek as the second forward based on his outstanding late season form, which has almost guaranteed Nürnberg safety from relegation.

Not bad but swap Borowski and Frings positions and replace Weidenfeller with Enke and we have a deal.;)

I'm loving Berbatov in that line up. People don't give him enough credit. He is a world class striker.

Also, Freier's been in terrific form, he's scored in the last 5 games straight no?

I'm interested to know what was the best XI? Has that been released yet? If not, what was the best XI in your opinion?
