dear peter... dear pw, any chance of getting those white balloon things pulled from distribution. i think they're a step in the childish direction we don't want to go. my opinion, and i'd be interested to find out what everyone else thinks. cameron
If you're talking about the things that get blown up and then banged together to make noise, they're alright. Try going to a stadium where they allow stadium trumpets. It's a miserable hell with a few of those things bellowing in your ears. Really, they're painful. Banging things good -- stadium trumpets terrible.
Re: dear peter... They are a great way to get everyone making some noise. They have been handing them out for years - so we are past stepping in that direction. I strongly urge the Fire and UnitedHealth Care to keep passing out - for the noise at the games and in the off season, they make great tools for waking those "sleep like the dead" kind of people.
My only complaint about the bang stick thingies (to quote Coz), is that my 3 year old won't stop doing it at home. The wolves hand 'em out to so we have a steady supply. Don't let 'em in your house!!!
The key is to let the air out of them when the little buggers go to sleep! Or better yet, I give them to nieces and nephews and the children of friends. Payback for the drumsets, talking teddy bears, dolls, etc.
When you're sitting in front of some kid who has those things, life is horrible. I hate them, but I don't hate them nearly as much as those stadium horns, which also make it very hard to watch a game on TV. The pathetic drone they create in a broadcast is nauseating. It's a shame we need a prop to get people to make some noise at the games. Next year, they should hand out fiddles. And chainsaws.
The sticks are the lesser of the two evils when compared to the horns, but i could do without them both. We should all be able to make enough noise with our voices.
ye gods, the horns are awful. i've actually muted away matches on tv because they are so horrible. the sticks i can deal with, since when you're in section 8, the noise is pretty drowned out.
Come On!! You guys sound like a bunch of old Soccer moms!! I use whatever I can get my hands on to make some noise and wake up the old ladies in the seats around me.
Yeah, I say the same thing. He actually says: "We don't need these." I don't think they make any kind of audible noise so they are completely useless. But did you see these at tonight's game? They were actually blue and red! It did not mean that they did not suck though. I mean you can't even throw them on the field.
yeah i dont want to sound like a snob or anything, but i can tolerate those as long as they are not in section 8. some people had them tonight and they just dont sound good.
was anyone else completely spent after that match? a few times with about 15 minutes to go i simply couldn't get my hands up in the air... i was still good for clapping and singing along, but my arms were tucked into my sides moving nowhere... i think we had very few periods of no organized support going on... even if it was that 30 minute or so beginning of game lo-lo-lo-lo i was on the bottom of section 8, on the right side, during the first half... and during that entire half... pretty much the section right next to us never did ************ so liam, myself and a couple of my friends jumped over there and everyone responded VERY well (save one mom... i explained very nicely she didn't have to stand, but i wasn't about to go anywhere... so she moved )... oh yeah, i started most of the way up and just started asking each and every person to stand and jump in with section 8... the energy produced prevented them from going back down once they got up it was pretty much entirely little kids and their parents... but they got into it with all of section 8 and went the final 45... i don't know how it was on the other side, i think 'coz said that the other section on his side got into it in the second half as well the game was a complete blast... i wish more people had come out, they missed a fantastic game by the way... thanks to whomever it was that was playing violent femmes on the loudspeakers after the game... that was a great joy -jim
i will agree for anyone but little kids... i have zero problem with them jumping in with us, and i simply can't see them being able to clap their hands the whole game... i mean mine were pretty damn red and had very little feeling... i can't begin to expect them to clap the whole game... if they need bangers to do it, so be it adults and teenagers are a different story
I was completely spent. But I am at most games anyway. The thing was was that I had a massive headache before the game. But screw it, I gave everything I had. Jim and Liam did a fantastic job with section 9 in the second half. I hope we do that at all the games from now on. I mentioned in the match thread earlier. That whole end should be up and loud every game. Then we would have something to boast about. Concerning the clappy things. I don't think they should get rid of them. Kids love em. I hate em myself (the high pitched tone really sucked with my headache) but as long as they stay out of section 8 (except kids) I think they are fine. I will say that the version they gave out this week were way better then any of the previous ones. You got a little straw to help blow them up and they had Fire colors. Keep these and don't go back to the bland white ones.
Yes. Of course, playing 4 hockey games in 36 hours this weekend probably didn't help my cause much. I was starting to dread all the chants that involved raising your arms. Were you and Hala the guys doing the.....well, let's call them the Anti-Barcelona/Cataluna chants whenever Hristo gave up possession?
There were a few of us in the upper reaches and the aisle. It wasn't really anti-Hristo, we were just doing it to fire him up. Ya know, piss him off into soring six or seven
They should offer lessons in rhythm to everyone who gets the sticks. They're fine when beaten in unison with the singing, but they're awful when the people around you smack them at random.
