Villareal was losing 2-0, but scored in the 76th, and then put Freeman on in the 78th to push for the tie. He replaced Mourino (who had a yellow)

Impressive that he's already in the mix as a winter transfer to the 4th place La Liga side

Just shows the improvement of MLS. Recently it's straight to Championship sides so now the next steps.

Davies jumped straight to Bayern 7 years ago so I’m not sure if this represents growth so much as a one-off talent unless it happens more regularly.

Remember that he has arrived at Villarreal from an MLS offseason with no January camp. His last club game of 2025 was on October 22.

2-1 in favor of Villarreal at halftime. Villarreal's RB got a yellow in the first half, so perhaps more likely that Alex gets decent minutes today in the 2nd half.

79th minutes still not in. However, the RB Mouriño seems totally exhausted (and still sitting on a yellow). I'm guessing Freeman will come on in the next 2 minutes.

Whelp, he didn't get in after all. Villarreal was really up against the ropes and made several other subs. They managed to hold on to the victory. 2-1 final.
