this is a pretty stupid remark...by the biggest idiot himself.

"Who can predict the economy of tomorrow? Besides, the World Cup is not dependent on the economic strength of the country where it's played,'' Blatter said after Friday's decision by the FIFA executive committee. "Its strengths are the quality of the game and quality of the competition.''

he is kidding right? a poor nation in economic turmoil could not host a world cup...well, blatter thinks they can.

Stop using the World Cup as a giant carrot to get countries in line. It should go to what ever country can do the best job hosting it. It could be in Europe for the next 20 years, all I care is that it is well run.

I still dont believe the 2010 will actually be held in Africa. The only country I can even fathom hosting the WC successfully( and by successful, I mostly mean I would be comfortable traveling there) is South Africa. But we all know they're racist bastards. :)
So what I'm thinking is that Bladder knows its not gonna happen any time soon in Africa, and the U.S. is the obvious back-up. That, therefore, explains Bladder giving 2014 to S. America.

Anyway, I'm gonna go back to checking the skies for flying pigs.

it is not obvious, according to many mexican posters, mexico has already come forward to FIFA and has told them they would be happy to host the cup should an african nation not be able to host it after all...according to them <and they are usually right on this kinda crap> mexico already put in the paperwork to be the backup.

i really dont care, i would rather have the united states host a cup and know it for a few years beforehand...i am thinking that 2018 is when we'll see it here again.

Except that per FIFA rules a country must have 10 stadiums meeting their requirements to host a WC(or join another country in a dual hosting bid).

Just to let you all know, the REAL reason we are not hosting the Cup in '14 is becuase my son probably won't be ready to play for the Nats until '18. And since he and I have already decided that he will lead the USA to victory, it would be more fitting to have that happen right here, to make it easier for me and his mother to watch the games in person.

Gotta go outside and practice penalty kicks with him now...

Ecuador would be nice. The Barcelona and Liga de Quito stadiums rival the best pitches in europe.

Plus Ecuador is Freaking nice. Only Country in the World with for different Climates. Climates to fit practically every citizen in the World. It cost Liga do Quito 16 million dolars to built their stadium. Would be nice but you know!!!

Finally The World Cup back to South America (2014), until now, *the continent which has 9 World Cups, over Europe which has 8* :)
It could be great having it in Brasil but there´s other countries fighting for it.
I will be one of the best with such a entusiastic people and passion for football

The article: Just saying that SAmericans teams win because the World Cup is played in their continent...¿?¿¿ There´s so much undervalue for SAmerican football. It´s enought with that FIFA thing of just giving 4 places in the competitions to the continent. It seems they are afraid of SAmericans to continue winning.

Is Mexico going to host the WC in the same spot it hosts its own National team games? That would be sweet.

I'm pulling for Uruguay to get it in 2030. That would be a great way to mark the 100th anniversary of the competition.

Put some of that talent to work fixing the various economies in South America, and successful bids will occur more frequently.

What economies??? what are you talking about??? Oh Yeah. the 1930 World cup. Hell, Uruguay was a powerful world Economy!!! So was Chile And Brazil and Argentina when they hosted it. Ever Since the USA hosted the World Cup things have changed. Since when has soccer demanded such high standards? That's not what the game is about. Our Youth down here still play on dirt with two rocks as goal post and you know what? We produce some of the world's most talented players. Hell, I can bet we have over 1000 Players playing in other countries. Some people are just spoiled. Thank god, you can not buy soccer history, soccer Titles, and legendary figures. I think that's all that seperates soccer nations these days. If Money and economy came into play. Their would only be, what? the G14.
