I guess the game was supposed to be on Fox Sports World tonight, but I've just heard from someone at DC United that it's been bumped and another MLS game will be shown. Apparently, Fox Sports World was supposed to get the production work from the local Comcast station, but last night's Orioles rainout has forced the baseball team into a doubleheader today and Comcast will send the production folks to Camden Yards instead.
I knew it wasn't going to be on Comcast because of the O's game, didn't know it would be bumped off FSW as well.
FSW always gets their camera feeds from the "local" station who is airing the game and then sits their play-by-play guys in california to call the match, hence they get the players correct about 67% of the time.
No TV whatsoever. No broadband video either. http://dcunited.mlsnet.com/MLS/news...tent_id=5321&vkey=news_dcu&fext=.jsp&team=dcu
From the DC United Website. http://dcunited.mlsnet.com/MLS/news...tent_id=5321&vkey=news_dcu&fext=.jsp&team=dcu I hate baseball. I hope the Orioles are relegated this year.
Yahoo uses the local broadcast feeds. It's really just Dish's directkick. If the local feeds are not happening then I can't imagine Yahoo - or directkick - will happen either. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I asked this earlier, and someone picked my hopes up, w/ FSN Rocky Mountain. Implying that Yahoo could use Colorado Feed hopefully they'll check in advance. But if not this sucks major donkey balls.
From DC United: Comcast SportsNet, Fox Sports World Broadcasts Pre-empted Tickets Still Available for Tonight’s Match versus Colorado WASHINGTON, DC (June 12, 2004) - Comcast SportsNet and Fox Sports World broadcast coverage of tonight’s D.C. United game versus the Colorado Rapids will not occur as scheduled. With last night’s postponement of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles-San Francisco Giants match-up, Comcast SportsNet is contractually obligated to air the re-scheduled game tonight, despite previous plans to show United’s match. Without with the Comcast SportsNet feed of United’s match, Fox Sports World must air also alternate programming. D.C. United and Comcast SportsNet will jointly announce an additional future telecast in the coming days. "We understand the rainout of the Orioles game placed Comcast SportsNet in a difficult situation and appreciate their attempts to secure production facilities that would have allowed tonight’s United match to be aired as scheduled," said United President and CEO Kevin Payne. "Nonetheless, we’re disappointed that United supporters will not be able to watch their team play tonight in favor of a baseball game."
You've gotta admit this is pretty rinky-dink though. What do they have? One set of cameras? One production vehicle? Please ... Tape delay I can understand. No tape at all? That I can't.
Who does the broadcast for the WB? Or whatever channel shows O's games now? Why can't Comcrap piggy back off them..and send the production crew to RFK, and show DCU at 5AM!! I'd wake up to see it!!
I can't comment on the rinky-dinkness of CSN because I have no idea what sort of production capabilities they have. But if we accept that they can only tape one game at a time and the choices are an Orioles game or a DC United game, I'm gonna have to go with the O's.
[Stares at the line above in unabashed jealousy] I hope this match pre-emptedness doesn't become habitual
