Pozuelo is out due to red card suspension. NYRB vs. MIAThe play was reviewed for a possible red card to MIA player number 8 for serious foul play. After further review, a red card was issued to player number 8 (Alejandro Pozuelo) of MIA for serious foul play.— MLS Video Review (@MLSVAR) August 27, 2022 The pink swamp's hopes lie in the brother of a former yellow clad hero.
So who'll work remote from the DORA when it opens at 3:15? Getting paid to drink beer? Why not? It'll be sunny and highs around 80. It beats some cubicle, does it not?
This is going to be the game, I believe, where we finally get back on track and begin our inevitable march to the playoffs. Why? To paraphrase Bruce Willis in Armageddon, because if we don't, we're screwed.
In addition to Pozuelo, it looks like Yedlin might be out as well. He is questionable for tomorrow's game due to injury. Yedlin has been quite good for Miami this year, so this would be a big loss. DeAndre Yedlin is Questionable for Wednesday’s game at Columbus. The 2nd Captain has appeared in every game, starting all but one, and played almost 2,400 min this year, his most since 2018-19. Noah Allen and Harvey Neville will travel with the team as options. #InterMiamiCF— Ian Hest 🟦 (@IanHest) August 29, 2022 I would also expect Higuain to only be available for about 45' at most due to the fact that he played 45' this past Saturday and they have another game this coming Saturday. Edit: Looks like Higuain is listed as questionable as well. Phil says Gonzalo Higuain is doubtful for Wednesday at Columbus. He suffered getting studs to the back of his leg just before halftime against Red Bulls and was subbed off at the break. Phil said Saturday he could barely walk in the locker room. #InterMiamiCF— Ian Hest 🟦 (@IanHest) August 29, 2022
It's shaping up to be a classic MLS trap game. I fully expect an uninspiring first half by both teams and improved play by us in the second half which results in a few missed scoring opportunities before Cucho pulls something ridiculous out of his butt around the 75'. This will be followed by some lazy defensive play resulting in a corner kick around the 88' during which we look completely inept and allow the ball to ping off a few players in the box before some career MLS benchwarming journeyman pokes the ball into the net to bring Miami level.
With two matches this week, seems unlikely that “Questionables” like Higs and Yedlin would go the full 90 in both matches for the Pinks. OTOH, it looked to me like Zelarayan was gassed by the end of the Tide Pod match. I’d be surprised if he went more than 60 minutes in one of our two matches this week. (Others too of our recent regular starting XI.) Edit: Looks like the Pinks don’t play this weekend. I bet Yedlin plays.
Throw what you can at Miami to get the win and leap frog them in the standings then rest players versus Chicago in the first half.
Maybe the yellow kits were accidentally bleached. Would like to see white over black shorts but maybe not in this game.
So we get a poor team that is now even poorer. We have them at home. No Wednesday disadvantage. The danger here, is regardless of what's said out loud, there is a degree of confidence that can diminish intensity. We've seen it. And we will be playing against subs who are playing for their careers. That can be a dangerous formula. But I'm gonna say the players don't let that happen again and we walk away with this one. Team feeds off of Cucho's leadership and joy!
