Real Madrid fans worrying that the future of the club is in peril is pretty ridiculous, but there is a far distant future where Atleti and Real Madrid are possibly not worlds apart from each other any more.
Arsenal were more than content with landing in 4th place for almost a decade. They are not EPL royalty [Utd and Liverpool]. PSG is an oil club. Established in the 70s, they won just 2 Ligue 1 titles before Al Khelaifi took over. We're comparing apples to salmon here.
Utd spent close to what City did post Fergie era. Results are polar opposite. I don't see RM failing to win La Liga for long unless there's gross mismanagement of 1.5 billion in transfers like Utd post 2013.
Let's face it, domestic competition in Spain isn't as competetive as in the EPL when it comes to cycles.
To his defense Ancelotti? Too tactically inept and dinosaur Xabi? Lacked emotional intelligence to connect with the “stars” Arbeloa? Kissed too much ass One of the three is arguably the greatest manager of all time, the second one was one of the most sought after and exciting new managers, and the third well but my point is, maybe, just maybe this is on the players and the club. We can only blame managers for so long
And still most want him to continue as president. His strategy around managers and squad building has been a disaster and he just keeps going with the same approach. I do believe Ancelotti reached the end of his cycle and it was a good move to start a new project with a renowned guy like Xabi. I figured it was a sign of change in philosophy by Florentino, but firing Xabi proved that wrong. And then Arbeloa who I think is a very talented and cool guy will also not be given an actual chance. Instead of giving either Xabi or Arbeloa a real chance, we are going back to Mourinho. Im not really a fan of "better the devil you know" concept. We can do better but that means actually risking something instead of always preferring to feel safe in whats familiar, even when its clearly wrong.
Thank you, I thought about all the blame CA was getting last week but forgot to post. The club, the players and the medical team are to blame, unfortunately Flo isn't going anywhere and the players have contracts so they aren't either.
You can hire the wizard of ozz for all you want. Athletes get injured significantly more, and worse than before across all major sports.
That's why the Mourinho hiring is so perfect - he can do the worst job ever but will have eneryone in the media convinced it's someone elses fault. Than Florentino can say you see, it's not me I was smart enought to hire Mourinho and nobody thinks anyof this is his fault except all the fans and players - but the media sitll thinks he's great and at Mbappe FC our goal is to win transfer titles and PR awards.
He's a limited manager but how exactly is he a cone? Seems to be confronting Carrerras, Carvajal, Mbappe etc. Benching them. He seems to be dealing with the player power more than the previous manager who succumbed to everyone and everything.
Brutal. "What was less surprising was watching the self centered Frenchman further expose himself as the biggest problem for Los Blancos. Mbappe was horrible. He had nothing to do with the first goal, which was scored by Vinicius Junior and truly created by Jude Bellingham (the actual stars of this team), and he cost his team several goals with his usual selfishness. Not passing to open teammates, holding onto the ball for an eternity, and either blatantly missing or waiting so long to pull the trigger on the shot that the defense simply took it off him." https://therealchamps.com/kylian-mb...-he-didn-t-expect-01krvz49a684?utm_source=RSS
I’m delighted both Flo and Mbappe are staying. Maybe the people who were so hell bent on being miserable when we were winning CLs left and right will now appreciate those CLs a little more, or they will become more miserable now. Either way, that makes me happy. anyways it’s funny how Mbappe and Flo staying pisses off the right people. Madrid never lets me down. also I’m almost enjoying this little shithousery going on, had not seen it in Madrid since 2009… I was a bit tired of always being hated without reason, now at least there is reason and I’m ok with that.
What i find curious is that if you watch interviews of people outside the Bernabeu (fans), there are some that are critical but the vast majority seems locked in with Florentino, in general the opinion of the global fanbase seems very contrasting to the local one.
Well because we wish the club well and understand that while Florentino hasn't made Madrid's sporting success priority the last years and his 2nd in command has had things rot a bit... we know he is the one built this Madrid that the people who bash the club came to follow
Barca had Ronald Koeman we got Ronald Cone Man lol I genuinely think the cone thing is quite funny though, despite really liking Arbeloa and feeling a bit bad for him, he clearly got the job too soon. When I was in university I tested directly into an advanced calculus class, and felt completely out of my depth from Day 1. I can imagine that is how Arbeloa might be feeling as well.
The cone thing comes from a long standing war of words between him and Pique, from back when Arbeloa was playing. I think he could have made things easier for himself by just publically being an interim coach and trying to navigate the season, but it was clear that his status was kept in the air with the promise that he might turn the situation around, and there was a constant comparison between him and Xabi who also couldn't really take control of the team despite having a lot more experience. The negative aspect is that he is basically now not an option for anybody else in Spain anymore, just way too much baggage and nothing to show for it, but I am convinced the club will find a spot for him in some shape or form.
As they should! The club put him in a position that may have resulted in the derailing of a potentially promising managerial career. Considering he's a valuable and highly respected club member, the club should feel somewhat of a responsibility to put him in a position to get things back in order. And yeah, I know all the legal stuff: he's an employee and he was simply instructed by his employer to take the 'promotion', etc. But sometimes it's not only about that stuff, particularly if it concerns a person like Arbeloa who lives and breathes Real Madrid.
I think he truly hoped he could work this out, sucks for him but that's the sport. He'll land on his feet, just not as a coach any time soon at least.
