Carvajal and Alaba no less should not have ANY influence on who is promoted or demoted back.

If this is true, Arbeloa has no spine, can you imagine what it is for the young lad...

One of them is the captain.. again if true, Carvajal is no captain at all..

It all depends on what you "believe", some seem to believe the narrative that Xabi was dismissed to " appease arrogant players who aren't performing" i happen to not believe any of that, especially since a few months earlier most seemed really happy with what the team was doing in the CWC and early in the season, and some were "finally enjoying watching the team again", that negative narrative just suits some because some believed Xabi was the chosen one and was the coach who would take the team forward with his tactical acumen unlike old out of date Carlo, but , maybe, just maybe, he just wasn't up to the job, maybe he had had enough, but that's a boring narrative, better to blame the players, Madrid is not Leverkusen and La Liga is not the Bundesliga.

I think most "long term" grounded fans (especially before the CL three peat) understand that this is Madrid and coaches have been thrown out or left for less, we've seen worse players coaches and performances before, the "fans" that decided that they "dislike the players who are divas, spoiled brats and lazy" , who decided they were no longer going to watch the team and that the season was over despite the team being in second place 3 points behind Farca and still very much in the champions league, were IMO all into their feelings just because they imagined Xabi was " the one", they mostly had no bother with the very same players just the season before, it was all about the rubbish coach, i can't take them seriously over this,

Some of them have already changed their tune because the team is doing a bit better at the moment, a bit fickle is you ask me ...... , no matter how it pans out the season does not feel like a "write off" to me, i've never given up on this team for all the time i've watched them, even in worse times, Xabi leaving absolutely wasn't a good enough reason to start doing that now, better winning coaches have left us ZZ, Del Bosque, Carlo just to name 3

Also who is " a noticable potion of fans?" who does that constitute, certainly not this forum...

Stop this pretension Digital that you are someone who supports this team without any personal bias while throwing shades at other members sitting on your high horse. You never supported Bale from day 1 here for example.

Shaded Benzema for long because Higuain was your fav. So this whole essay of "oh they called our players spoiled brats" because you had deep personal connection with some of those players. We all have some personal bias, connection while supporting this team for long.

If fans saying good when team gets results and criticize when team doesn't are fickle, look no further than what you were doing in last Clasico thread. So the whole pretension of you being one of the rarest fans through thick and thin without any personal bias is BS.

You’re in your feelings too much here.

No one cares if you (or I or anyone else) personally have given up on the team. Grow up.

Bigsoccer. Where some posters think they are better than others :D.

Anyways, I hope Benfica are ashamed of themselves and just bend over at the Bernabeau leg.

In reality, a single goal lead is not safe.

Digital is expressing something that is probably shared with a significant portion of the fanbase, which is the disillusionment of having to share a space with supposed like-minded individuals whose content is indistinguishable from rival teams. Not a big deal either way, nor did anyone claim it was. No one is forcing anyone to be here.

We’re all here to have a discussion. Don’t know what the point of the posturing was.

Terrible subs. Pitarch was playing well and what was the point of taking him off instead of Tcho while trailing 1-0 against Getafe that was parking the bus?

enough is enough, cant go with it is the coach fault, the referee fauld etc,say it how it is THESE PLAYERS ARE GARBAGE

What was the point of bringing in Dean as well? He is such a bad form right now, that Alaba looks miles better In everything.

We need some signings especially a starting quality playmaker. But need a proven world class coach to turn this around after two crappy seasons as well.

ZZ steadied the sinking ship after Lope and Solari. Florentino doesn't have such an obvious option now.

I was so rooting for Juve to get relegated in Calciopoli hearings as we desperately needed a proven coach like Capello after going through Queroz, Camacho, Garcia Ramon, Luxembergo and Lopez Caro.

That's the kind of crap Florentino can come up with when he's off the rails. Would definitely need a Klopp stature coach to get out of this mess.

If we get knocked out by City on March 17th, and we rack up another draw or a loss in LaLiga until then we really need to call it a day & start planning a new project. Cause this shit is not it. I don't need another trophyless season to figure that out. And I don't need Arbeloa telling me it's his fault for the 15th time.

Wait, it wasn’t Xabis fault? At least Xabi had a clue, clear game plan. What we are watching now hurts my eyes.

I heard Arbeloa texted Alonso asking him how it feels to be unemployed.

This season is written off, by in large. We’ll see some (big) changes in the summer.

It's not a tragedy to not win La Liga, as we've often had to endure a loss there due to slightly better Barcelona. But at least previous Madrid teams looked competent enough. This team, on the other hand, doesn't excite in any way and is downright unwatchable at times.

    will we though?

We brought in Xabi, who by all accounts got the best version of Mbappe (lighter, faster, pressing) some defensive cohesion.

All went off the rails when Vinny threw the Classico temper tantrum, was backed by the president and Fede/Jude did their grumbling behind the doors to the president and press.

I don’t expect Flo to change anything to be honest. I’m fully expecting a 5 year extension for Vinny to be announced in the coming days.

I doubt it. with Perez in control there will be no big changes.
at this point it will be hard for him to find a big name coach that will come to Madrid.
He will try to get Carlo again. Maybe mourinho. but it’s not like he’ll open the checkbook.
he’ll tell any coach coming here that they the club have top talent and they need to make it work.

now, a big change will be if Perez resign.
