Dest may be a replacement for Guerreiro. Stanisic would be first choice I think but Dest would get plenty of time, or offer a more attacking option when needed. Kimmich at Bayern is too valuable in the midfield and only used in this position in an emergency. I could see it happening, I guess.
As a depth option, he's likely to make about 20-25 appearances in all competitions, with maybe a dozen starts. Not very interesting I admit, but a lot of those will be in the CL with some in the elimination rounds. Not ideal for the MNT but not too shabby either IMO
You’re almost always going to face elite competition when trying to go play at a club like Bayern. Kimmich is getting older and prefers to play in the midfield. Stanicic is a much different style of rb from Dest. Maybe Bayern wants an attacking rwb? Idk. I don’t have a strong opinion about the move. I am happy for him to stay at PSV.. but I understand the desire to have another go at a truly elite club.

oh man, y'all are underestimating Sergino - they may be happy with Laimer in the BL, but he was overmatched and exposed for speed against PSG.
Dest is still fast,but won't be fast enough to overcome poor positional discipline. Hope that's improved.
He was never technically bad defensively,just so adventurous going forward that he would get caught up field.
His biggest defense deficiency is height. Nothing he can do about that but getting better at positioning helps and can limit what taller players can do against you.
To put it another way, Dest's greatest defensive weakness is that he is so good in the attack - you can find him in the center of the box attacking Senegal's goal from 5 feet. And that's were managers want him. It's a LONG way back and the ball travels faster. So Dest's freedom to attack, likely his instructions to attack, will leave him out of the picture for defense at times.
If an outside back has instructions to attack and the other team takes advantage of the space they leave I blame either the coach for not tactically planning for that or the player(s) who were supposed to cover. If a player attacks on their own when told to stay deep it's on them but they probably will be on the bench for a while afterwards.
I think Dest defends well one on one out on the touchline. He is quick, good lateral movement, willing, etc. Where I think you have to be careful with Dest in a back 4 is his positioning, being aware of runners, not ball watch, and he isn’t the biggest guy. , I think he can be a bit suspect in these areas which is why I’m glad to see him further up the pitch under Poch.

Honestly not sure he's good enough for a team like that. I kinda think he's at a good level currently but he may want more money and more challenges.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair given how Leverkusen underachieved last season. Maybe that's not fair either. It was more transition season with departures of Xhaka, Frimpong, Wirtz, Kossounou, and Adli. That said, I wasn't overly impressed by much of what remained on the roster. Leverkusen spent a chunk of change on Quansah, Tillman, Badé, and Ben Seghir, but the overall product still wasn't as expected. The left side in their 3-5-2 was an issue. Partly because Álex Grimaldo simply wasn't interested in defending and they didn't have a LB. His attacking quality was undeniable, but there were stretches where tracking runners and doing the dirty work seemed like an afterthought. Grimaldo is off Atlético and replacing his offensive production won't be easy. If the new Spanish manager from Toulouse deploys a similar 3-5-2—as reports suggest he did in France—the club will need a productive left wing-back to make the system work. That's where Dest could be of use. He may not offer the same elite creativity and end product that Grimaldo provided, but he's a more complete defender and still brings plenty going forward. In a wing-back role, he could provide the balance Leverkusen often lacked last season. Pair Dest on the left with half-Yank Culbreath on the opposite flank, and suddenly you have a wing-back tandem with pace, athleticism, and much better defensive stability. It might not be as flashy as the Grimaldo-Frimpong combo, but it could end up being a more balanced foundation for the next phase of Leverkusen's project.
I said that not just as a reflection of BL and expectations there - but concern about the better defending in the BL as a whole. I'm wondering if Dest is a bit of a flat track bully who will struggle against better sides although he did well against Liverpool last season I believe.
Sergiño Dest is said to have a sales clause that allows him to leave PSV Eindhoven for €23 million until August 15. After this date, PSV is not obligated to cooperate with any transfer. Asked this week about it and if there is a chance he leaves, Dest beat around the bush by saying alot, but basically nothing.
