According Feyenoord's website Joe Cannon will get no contract at Feyenoord.
Keeper trainer Pim Doesburg was impressed but Joe is not good enough for Feyenoord at this moment, right now.
He has to improve on certain skills/points but that takes time.Feyenoord needs him immediately however.

Joe will finish trainingscamp and will fly home with the squad to the Netherlands.
Joe's manager will see if other clubs in The Netherlands are interested in Joe.

Any way, this was a great experience for Joe, training with the best football club of Holland.

Well, apparently your MLS team's goalie (T-Ho) heard the same thing at Feyenoord previously...

It's not hard to be critical of Cannon. Especially his foot skills and decision making.

Joe should kick in the nfl to supplement his income so he can play with the quakes for less money. $200,000 from the 49ers and $35,000 from the Quakes. He can't be any worse than Chandler or Cortez. :D

Joe takes some of the most horrific goal kicks/long free kicks that I've seen a pro goalie attempt. That one smacking off the loudspeaker pole in front of 111 last season comes to mind. So Cortez (a Redskin now, anyway) could give him a run for his money.

Anyone know if Joe was the kicker at St. Francis?

That's always been the knock on Joe--foot skills and distribution...

However, treat it as a good learning experience... apply to what was gained, come back home, or hopefully try to latch on with another European club with the hopes of improving...

The Feyenoord coaches were also critical on Howard so most likely they are going to look within the Netherlands or Europe for a keeper.

The only soccer players I know who could placekick in the NFL are Mia Hamm and if he's willing, Tony Meola... I can picture Joe shank a kick like a wild maniac. :D

    Cheers!

Regarding Meola, he tried out for the Jets(I think). His kicking was so bad, he earned the name "Captain Hook"

At the US Open Cup match at Columbus last year, between Kansas City and Columbus, Crew fans yelled Jets cheers at Meola just to spite him. Max Bretos thought that was the wittiest thing he had ever heard.

Cannon is a good shot-blocker, but his distribution and foot skills (as has been mentioned) is pretty poor. Feyenoord's coach said he was good and had alot of talent, but he needed work, and they just don't have time to be experimenting with a goalie who "needs work."

Edit: Oh, thought I'd mention that someone today said that Cannon was currently training with French club Lens.

Yeah, Dylan Hernandez wrote that in today's SJ Mercury article. Hasn't Joe tried out with Lens previously?

Yes, he previously trained with Metz.

I didn't think Cannon would make the cut. Maybe another team. He might have to prove himself in a lower division first before moving on to a top-flight team.
