Mods: I realize this ain't Metro, but it IS exclusive to NY/NJ so that's why I posted here.

Forgive me if this has already been covered: Is it my imagination, or do those of us in the tri-state area with Time Warner Digital Cable NOT get to see any Confed Cup with the exception of USA - Brazil on WFUT (ch 68) Saturday? SoccerTV.com says Galavision East is showing it; TVguide.com says Galavision (ch 53) is NOT showing it. Does anyone have the definitive word on whether or not the Galavision matches are going to be on TV in the NY area?

Thanks a million. I owe you a beer.

I just checked my program guide. We get the games. They're not live though, there being shown same-day delay. US-Turkey is on at 7pm Thursday on Ch. 53.

Nev. Smith's site is still saying they have the games live. Anyone know if they actually do have them live via some satellite channel or if they're mistaken?

    Thanks,

    5446.

Time Warner Digital Cable IS showing the games on Galavision Channel 53. The ones this week are tape delay. They'll be showing two a night on Wed., Thurs. and Fri. at 7PM & 9PM. The weekend games are live.

I talked to Jack; they have the games live, and will be replaying them at night as well.

Does anyone know if Cablevision (for those of us in Westchester) has Galavision as one of their channels, I can't find it anywhere. I bought into this whole digital cable thing in hopes that I would never need another channel again, and it seems like I still need some channels....

    Thanks

Go to soccer.com and at the bottom of the page, there is a search engine for soccer programming. Enter your zip code, then on the next screen, pick your cable provider. If you have Galavision, the next screen will show it.

EDIT: looking at the Cablevision site, it looks like they offer every Spanish channel except Galavision. The good news is, you will at least get USA vs Brazil on Telefutura....

Good news for Comcast customers in North Jersey (finally):
    Telafutura is Channel 58
    Galavision is Channel 72
The first round of the games will be on these channels.

    Here's the US schedule:
    U.S. vs. Turkey 6/19/2003 1:00 PM ET
    Galavision/Tape-delay 7 p.m. ET/PT

    U.S. vs. Brazil 6/21/2003 3:00 PM ET
    Telefutura LIVE

    U.S. vs. Cameroon 6/23/2003 3:00 PM ET
    Galavision/Tape-delay 7 p.m. ET/PT

Bad news for Central Jersey Comcast customers (as usual):
    TeleFutura is Channel 16
Galavision is not available even on the Digital Cable package.

I just got hooked up with Dish Network last night so I'm good to go. I also get FSNY for free which costs nearly $20 a month on Comcast.

    Galavision on Cablevision

After going through all of the channel listings on the Cablevision website, Galavision's availability is very spotty. In Westchester it's available only in Port Chester/Harrison (Channel 63) and Yonkers (Channel 68).

It's not on the digital tier (iO) anywhere.

The complete list of Cablevision systems carrying Galavision is:

    Connecticut:

    Bridgeport (Channel 66)

    New Jersey:

    Hudson County (Channel 69)
    Newark (Channel 66)
    Paterson (Channel 70)

    Long Island:

    East Hampton (Channel 29)
    Hauppauge (Channel 29)
    Lynbrook (Channel 29)
    Woodbury/Islip iO (Channel 29)

    New York City:

    The Bronx (Channel 63)
    Brooklyn (Channel 63)

    Westchester and Points North:

    Port Chester/Harrison (63)
    Yonkers (68)

So it would appear that with the exception of far east Long Island (Suffolk County), Galavision is only carried by Cablevision in heavily Hispanic areas. Can't say that's a real surprise, although I would have expected it to be carried in Elizabeth, NJ and it's not.

Perhaps we can do a calling campaign to the Director of Programming's office, similar to what we did to get the MLS Shootout.

    Nevada's - ALL Live - ALL King's English

Just spoke with Jack at Nevada's...

The are getting a different feed than the Galavision, et al.

Their feed is the COPA 320.
    Which means:

***All matches will be shown live (except for final day of each group play, when both are started at the same time. One will then be tape-delayed.)

***All matches will have English commentary.

    ----

***They will also replay the US - Brazil match at 8:00pm on Saturday night...
(for all of us Metros that will be at Giants for the Galaxy match during the day!!!)

Is Nevada Smith's going to replay any of the other games (Besides US v Brazil) at night for those of us who can't leave work?

As a Cablevision subscriber in Rockland, I feel doubly screwed by this tournament. Not only do Timmy and Cleetus miss important Metro matches (and they would of course give us a few final glimpses of Timmy), we don't get to watch what they're doing with the Nats!

okay, why does anyone care about the confederations cup, USA aint got a chance as France are trying to reclaim some pride and will probably win the thing, if not then the turks/brazilians will.

The confederations cup is a waste of time and energy, its un nessecary games for over worked european players (MLS Players get fron november to march off which is 5 months, europeans get june to august which is 2 which is why ive only mentioned europeans).

u aint missing much if u actually want to watch the confeds cup

I know, and agree with, the objections to the Confed Cup, but the matches are more than friendlies, and I don't like missing those either.
