News: No Charge for Philly

    I have been to the EPYSA workshop today...

    Anyway, I spoke with Matt Driver of the WPS
    He confirmed that the name will be Philladelpia Independence (Not too crazy about the name... but I bet if hada name the team contect it would have ended up as CHARGE FC (I would have had all my IT friends voting on it)

    I have no idea of the answer, but would Philly Charge supporters have a problem with that name?

    Well, it does save us from lamenting the fact that Kelly Smith and Heather Mitts are wearing Breakers uni's

    Maybe they'll change their minds after they read these posts.... Though I suppose it's no worse than the LA S.O.L. Or St. Louis's Athletic(a) Supporters. And one of the leading choices for Philly's new MLS team is Philadelphia Union, or P.U. for short. Let's hope they don't stink.

    FWIW--I thought MLS locked up the domains for "philadelphiaindependence.com", etc. two years ago.

    If the MLS team is not going to use "Independence" (and let's hope they don't), I suppose they would just give the domain up.

    MLS is going with something like Philly Union or Philly FC, they won't have a nick name as far as I am aware
