MIchael Bradley is suspended for today's match against Feyenoord. Some people like to talk about YA teams even when our guys aren't playing. Herenveen could re-ignite their season if they can win today. Here's the soccernet preview: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/preview?id=231451&cc=5901 Heerenveen's good form appears to be at an end after consecutive defeats. Gertjan Verbeek has suspension and injury problems which have depleted the side's confidence. However, the gap between Heerenveen and Feyenoord is just six points. Brazilian striker Afonso Alves will probably not play on Sunday because of a hamstring injury. Verbeek said: ``There's a small chance that he will play, but I'm not very optimistic.'' Defender Kristian Bak-Nielsen is doubtful with an ankle injury. Right back Gianni Zuiverloon returns after suspension but defender Michel Breuer picked up a red card against Roda JC and is now banned, as is American Michael Bradley.
Of course...finally get to see a Herenveen game and Bradley is out. Anyways game has been nice so far, really fast-paced with some great runs and passing. I have to admit I would tend to downsize these teams. Should give them some more credit.
Sibon scored in the 87th to salvage a point for Herenveen. 1-1 final. Is referee Dick Jol related to Martin?
If anyone is interested, ... above posters excluded ... those are actually their names ... and not made up ones.
Mike was sitting in the stands and watched how Heerenveen overrun Feyenoord but failed to score. Heerenveen squandered in three matches the chance to overtake Ajax and take possesion of the third place. These lost points can be very costly, because FC Twente and FC Groningen are on the look out for the play off places and now AZ has bought Alves the next match he loads his gun against Heerenveen. With Alves I recon AZ is on the way up to the top 5 places.
