a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches; b) goal difference in all group matches; c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches. If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows: d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned; e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned; f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned; g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee. Let's hope for a 1 goal win by Cameroon in the lowest score possible. Then we can lose by 1 and still go through as long as Holland beats Cameroon by more than 1.
It depends how you look at it. A Cameroon win could get us through even if we lose, but it could also cause us not to advance even with a win. Most likely Holland will beat Cameroon, but they haven't been that great yet.
I told you, you can take the issue by 100 ways possible. The only thing to do is to win the last match (and it's not gonna happen with this tactic).
I don't like the idea of relying on other teams to get through. If Japan beats Denmark then they deserve to go to the next round. If they don't win then it would be a justified result.
If Denmark wins then a tie is out of the question for Japan. This is good because it will force Japan to attack.
I agree with you but this is the World Cup. Who cares how we get through. I'll take all the help we can get from the other teams.
If Denmark wins by 1, they're goal difference is -1 going into the Japan game. Japan are at 0. We would go through with a tie.
We'de better keep an eye on Rommedhal. This guy has a "EA Sports Fifa 99" flavor but he's still fast as a lightning.
Considering Okada's idea of "attack" is "play useless gits like Tamada and Okazaki" how is that good? We're more likely to score in our bunker formation because it at least keeps our crap strikers off the pitch. We know Morimoto won't play under any circumstances. Best then to stick with Honda as a quasi-one top, we were bitch-slapping the Dutch once we took the initiative with that lineup, until Matsui was wrongly taken off.
But like I said, if Cameroon had beaten Denmark, even a win would not guarantee we get through. That doesn't look like it will happen now with 2 minutes left though. Please just don't let Denmark score another.
My only fear now is that Okada will play for the draw in the last game, and the players keep to the gameplan until another individual slip lets Denmark in to kill the game off at 1-0. Because we know this team is so capable of such disasters.
Hows that bad? He is responsible for his own fouls. I would have cheered as well. Now it's another story when someone gets injured.
Well, Paraguay did its part. I believe Italy will now beat NZ, but the goal difference at the end of the group might set Italy on 2nd place, to go and play Holland. For Japan or Denmark, it would be Paraguay which, by the way, seems like a hell of a team. I still would prefer play Paraguay than Italy... ...that is, if Japan qualifies, ne.
Agree. Actually I think if Japan is ever going to qualify for a quarterfinal it is now. But then again the groupstages aren't even over.
Well, Italy for sure now won't get first, if they do qualify at all... That was really a disaster. Far worse than Spain losing to Switzerland in my opinion. This is what happens when you rely on a crap Juventus team.
I guess you people are making fun of France ? The whole football here is on fire. Every hour there's another event. What a shame, our image wasn't good but with that ...
