I figured since this is going to be the closest thing to a Charge-related team, why not have discussion, results and pre-match stuff from those who are going to the home games. Just wanted to give folks that option. Paul
Im pretty sure we are going to the June 6th game to see our beloved Charge players before my big move June 25th. Its too bad that 1 of the WUSA Festivals wasnt on the east coast.... KSP
June 6th vs Banshees 11 seconds into the game, Pichon steals the kickoff from the banshees, takes it upfield and passes to Smith, GOAL... The Banshees day did not get better. Smith -Hattrick Pichon- 2 Goals Makinen - Sweet goal off a Corner, headed in (She headed another corner into the crossbar, and nearly scored later) 9-0, 38 shots to 2. My Daughter (Wearing her France Pichon jersey)ran into Pichon in bathroom at the half. Pichon arrived yesterday and went directly to last nights games and scored in the second half. It was great to see the Wildcats, even if they dominated the game. Talked to several charge fans and they spoke to Makinen, Smith and Pichon while I was with my daughter and her friend. They will be playing the Freedom and Mexico's international team. They had tried to get a game together with the WPSL Storm, but could not get a date together.
It was good to see our Charge players in action, but I cant say that a 9 to 0 score was really a competative soccer game. Kelly and Marinette werent even trying all that hard. Any time they or Anne busted out a serious soccer move they were in front of the net in a 1 vs 1 with the goalie. I cant imagine why the Charge players are even playing in this league other than to stay in shape for the WUSA Festivals. The only person that got a good workout was the Banchees goalie, who did make some impressive stops. The wildcats starting goalie only had 1 serious challenge and that was on a flubbed kick by 1 of the defenders on a pass back to her. (The field was an artifical surface, which surprised me.) There was an announced attendance of 490 something people (which was all the stands could hold). It did make for some easy autograph sessions. The Wildcat players threw little soccer balls into the stands which my almost 2 year old got 1. Most of the players had signed them, but afterwards we talked to Kelly and Marinette and got them to sign it as well. Marinette seemed happy to be back in the US, and remembered us from the Charge parties. The funniest part of the whole day was that Kelly had her dog there and some of her friends were watching him while she was playing. The dog kept on wanting to run down to her and was giving Kellys friends quite a time keeping him behind the stands!! All in all, it was good to see some of the charge players and hopefully it wont be the last time we get to see them. Our move to DC is in 2 weeks and I wont be able to get to Wildcats games or Charge games if they come back.... KSP BTW- does anyone remember Beth Macnamara, she was announced as a Charge player, but I dont remember her. Was she one of the fill in players when the whole team was injured last year?
Yes, she played Mid for the Charge for about 3 or Four games. I did get to meet her at the Charge Games. She was pretty good for the Charge
Beth was a defensive mid and a central defender type. She was one of the last cuts before the season. memory servs she played for rutgers?? she stepped in a few games and was real solid, reads the game well, with some nice passing skills.

Re: Absolutely Unstoppable The Wildcats played the Freedom yesterday (yes, the Washington Freedom) to a 1-1 draw, a 55th minute goal by Frenchie sealing the tie in a Boyds, Maryland friendly. Just 6 original Freedomers, including Lindsay Stoecker and Carrie Moore and the rest were U-various ages. Paul
