It seems like almost every player either has a pair of Nike or Adidas shoes. Even those who don't have either companies shoes seem to have an opinion on this topic. The question is which is better, Nike Mercurial Vapors or the Adidas Predator Pulses? The Mercurials are lighter, but give you blisters and aren't very comfortable. The Predators have the added swerve technology, but are a lot heavier. And so on and so on. I want to know which one people think are better overall?

  2. Well i have the vapors, and i plan on getting the pulses for when i play a more mid feild roll....but the vapors for now are doing great besieds teh blisters. The touch and kicks with them are really quite nice. But my manias were the best boot i ever had, so i am gonna say that the pulse's are gonna be better then the vapors even tho they are heavier.

How is the power frame on the vapors? How bad are the blisters?

  4. Oh man the blisters are killing me cuz i just got them...I played again tonight, i had to quit and go put my manias back on, but otherwise they are brilliant, wish i got a size smaller tho, too late now

Oh I was wondering how bad they hurt... I had a player on my High school team get some new vapors last year and they hurt so bad he traded them to another player for a pair of K-Mart specials... somethign like McGregors or something.

At the end of the day there is only one boot which is the best, the PREDATOR PULSES. They are quite light, not AS light as Vapours, look good, don't come in ridiculous colours in which u can see ur face (Chrome), have all round better protection with heel counter and real leather which won't hurt ur foot as much when a big fat defender stands on u. Has a cool tongue and offers u that extra kicking power and swerve. Vapours are light and that's it, they ruin ur feet and only a select few can actually fit in them properly. AND u pay more money for the Vapours than the Pulses, why bother- Pulses are the only boots for u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Sorry about the lecture, i hate em but i HATE those Vapours they are pointless!

Haha, if a defender really stands on you and you are moving or fall down, good bye to your ankle, 2 months in the hospital. My point is, wear whatever works for ya... I do think the Preds are well made and comfy but I just prefer the Vapors, and they fit well for me, no problems at all. And the speedtract plate, I love it, it does improve acceleration...

It mostly depend on your role on the field....if you desperately need to loose that 1 oz, then go for the Vapors. Pulses are only 1-2oz. heavier. Doesnt make any difference, to be honest!

I mean if a defender stands on the end of ur foot, no protection on Vapours, might as well cover ur foot in tissue paper- might give u more protection than that synthetic nonsense

Its hard for me to determine which is better because its down to what you like. I prefer the Pulses myself as i play defence but ive played in the vapors and theyre both really comfortable but i seem to run faster in the vapors but the Pulses have a great deal more protection.

You can get the pulses for £90 from JJB and The Vapors r like £120

  14. i have the vapor 2's but they are still giving me blisters. Its because i wore them for a total of 10 hours in the first 2 days of having them so most any new boots will give you blisters in that time.

To be honest, I don't think the vamps on predators give better swerve. You can swerve the ball with any boot, or even a normal shoe.

I have had 2 pairs of vapors and non of them gave me blisters. They are the most comfortable shoes and they adjust extremely well to your foot. I am planning on getting the Vapor 2's in red. Nike is my preference over adidas.

The vapors are good but they give you really bad blisters. They are great for strikers but if your a defender, forget it.

all ive heard about the adidas are good though. pretty light with grips, great leather great fit and comfortable.

I'd suggest the adidas cleats over nike. Overall thnough, nike is much better. :)

I perfer Adidas over Nike on almost everything... all my friends have Nike cleats and they always break, my Adidas don't. I like the look of the Adidas clothing better then nikes... I mean come on have you seen the new Columus Crew jersey? It looks awsome. On most days I'm wearing 100% Adidas, everything from shoes and socks to shirts... even my warm-ups and traing shirts are Adidas. I have Predator Pulses as my cleats.

Nike = great marketing and commercials! It drives much more on its image and goodlooking products. However they have been losing their touch if you see the AZT90 III... Still everybody talks about them because Nike knows how to manipulate us ;) Make up your own mind and don't believe that everything with a swoosh is as cool as they want you to believe! I've heard that the Vapors costs about $20-$30 to make!!! You are paying $150 for the Nike logo and cool ads.

Adidas = great & well-built products. They were making soccerboots probably before your parents were born and long before Nike even existed. You can't buy that kind of quality, expertise and class. It's the BMW and Porsche of sportsbrands...
In the end it's your money, but I'll always go for the three stripes.

I couldn't agree more. Nike = better products through MARKETING..LMAO

To be fair, I do own a pair of Vapors and I've owned various pairs of Adidas (along with other brands). The sweat-shop quality is evident in Nike products, from their soccer balls (I do have one) to their shoes (not necessarily just soccer shoes either). In terms of quality, fit, and finish, I think Adidas (and other soccer oriented companied like Lotto, Puma, Kelme, Umbro, etc) will always have the upper hand compared to Nike in my mind. I bought the Vapors because of what they are...a very lightweight shoe that does seem to look "cool" LOL

A soccer boot should 1be comfortable 2grip well to grass 3be able to improve touch on the ball. As far as it goes for me, leather is a huge component for touch on the ball. leather is skin, which is what I like playing in anyway. Don't think Nike or Adidas, think personal comfort. I like adidas boots, adidas socks, brine shingaurds, under armour compression shorts, nike shorts, any shirt, and new era caps! so what?
